Hey I'm looking into going long travel on my quad in the next couple of months and was just looking for some opinions and experience with what you guys are running. I'm leaning towards new equipment so that I can have it all built for my needs right out of the box. I'm also kinda thinking Motowoz shocks. As far as arms I'm in diffrent at this point. I plan on doing dunes like 1 or 2 times a year and race local b-class motocross, (when I do race I ride the pants off my quad so I need somthing that can keep up). thanks

Alot of you drag or dune race. Or you simply do it for pleasure. So, I would think it would be cool for Mattoon or any others to give some insite how to start. I would like to know how where and how to start with a TRX450R or a YFZ450 PLATFORM on a budget. I have a drag strip about 30 miles from me. So I was thinking............ why the fuck not? Lets here it! I want to know what I need first! And the basics. Naturally, the engine comes to mind, but what else?

I just thought i would share my experience with Pro Grip. Years ago, when i raced MX and rode trails, my hands would always get sore, and torn up. I found some Pro Grip grips for streetbikes many years ago, that worked well for me. I used to buy two sets (since they were for twist throttle) and trash the larger grip, and make a set for my quad. Recently Pro Grip started selling them as a matched set for quads. On my recent weekend riding adventure in Pottsville PA i used a set of the Pro Grip 699 grips. UPS dropped of a box from Racer's Edge/Crankworks today! Figured I'd share some pics! The crank is an OEM crank with a stock length Carrillo rod, balanced and welded by Crankworks. The piston is a CP 14:1 ''Race'' version with a single compression ring and moly coated skirts. Piston also uses a DLC (Diamond-Like Coating) wrist pin. It is very dark in color. Had the chance to work on and attempt to fix one of these bikes yesterday and today. After I got a few electrical issues resolved, I took it out for a spin. I always loved those YFZ's, so I was somewhat excited to try this out with EFI. This bike is by far the slowest thing I have ever ridden !!!! WTF????? Yea, its still all corked up,but for fuck sakes, I rode corked 400ex's that go faster than this damn thing. lol So, I suppose the owner would have to buy a programmer for this thing along with a exhaust for it to be half decent. Major fail! Another thing I notice is this bike has a super hot exhaust. You can burn your hand literally from 2" away from the exhaust…
