In this thread I will be discussing and showing you how do diagnose your quad's electrical systems. I will include basic electrical theory, how switches and sensors function, what these inputs mean to your bike, I will show testing including pictures of the components being tested (at the connector), I will show/discuss multimeter readings, I will show/discuss oscilloscope testing, and patterns, and I will answer any questions regarding these systems and how they function, and why the anomalies are occurring. I will be in depth in the hopes that you can and will read the theory and get enough of an idea of how these systems function so that you will be able to figure …

Our machines are really fairly simple, but in some cases it would be nice to lay to rest the "is it my CDI?", "my stator?", etc. topics. As a professional wrench with 25 years of diagnosis I have found one of the most valuable tools I have is my oscilloscope. A scope basically displays a photographic representation of electrical amplitude (voltage or peak voltage) over a period of time (frequency). Today scopes can be had on the cheap, and they can make quick work of figuring out why our machines are not functioning. A buddy of mine had a Scrambler and his bike just quit running. His diagnosis by the manual left him questioning weather he needed a CDI or stator or i…

I just received an email from PayPal that I sent an automatic payment to my4drgsr@yahoo.com or Amanda Carr for my "premium membership". This is the email address used by Devin, the former HQ owner. When I sent the payment to him last year when he was rallying for funds to buy software to eliminate the spammers, he said he would not start annual payment for two years. Obviously he lied and I ended up sending him another $25. I should have thought about this earlier and canceled it, but I never thought of it. I will be disputing the transaction with PayPal, but for everybody else, make sure you go to your "Preapproved Payments" in PayPal and cancel the agreement with m…

I've been wanting to clean up my handle bars, by removing the light and kill switch cluster. So I started to tackle it this weekend. I thought I had it figured out, with these drawings, but I must be missing something. The kill switch is easy, just leave the black/white and green wiring disconnected, using the key switch will be your on/off. As far as the lights, I want the high beam and the on postion to work together, I don't need the low beam. The switch has an internal light, for on postion, I don't need that option. Any one see a problem with this concept? Thanks for your input. :gr_wink: 04/05 Wiring Diagram http://www.offtopic.forum/uploads/imported/2013/04/…

Aight guys so I've picked up a durablue axle for the 450. First of all i want to say these things are way overpriced brand new. I got it a good deal on this one used, but i would never pay the new price, I think you're better off getting a new g-force. THe axle i got does not use splines it has the pins that go into the axle with the hub and it has 2 settings. one is +2 the other is +4 if i'm not mistaken. Anyway, the right side keeps snapping the pin. Has anybody else had this happen? I'm wondering if i'm not doing something right when i install the pins, but the left side has not broke yet and the right side has broke twice on me. This is only with a few hours of …

First of all, if you're only intention is to insult or name call or ruin this thread like you did the piston thread, please just save the entire forum the trouble and DON'T RESPOND. that being said. Hey guys, i'm putting some +2's on and noticed that one of my ball joints has this washer that seems to be permanent. It's the lower a arm ball joint. Only the right side has the washer, the other side does not have one, it just has the ball joint shaft and boot. here's a couple pictures. here's the washer, is this normal and if so why is it only on one ball joint. thanks in advance fellas. http://www.offtopic.forum/uploads/imported/2013/04/20130413_072419_271…

had a chance to break my motor in and throw my new build on Jeff's (OCP, Qckshrk) dyno here in Oregon over the weekend. 05 544 6mm crankworks crank, carrillo stock length rod sparks 99mm cylinder with RE stroker piston +1 ferrea x4, .050" off cylinder head web 242/812+5 straight up dyna on curve 4 48 lectron dasa -4 pipe, dasa intake on stock tube c12 fuel we were having some issues with the inductive pickup so some of the runs were broken up, but I made the number I was shooting for. hope to get some time to try some oxy fuel, different cam timing and ignition timing to make some more power. I can't wait to ride it!
