Windows POSReady 2009 SP3 unable to connect to Windows updates. Gets message about wrong...
by Guest Aktunka- 0 replies

I have some Windows POSReady 2009 machines with SP3 loaded on them. Everything used to work great, but recently, when I try to connect to the Windows Updates webpage, it starts to connect normally, then it redirects me to a web page from Microsoft telling me that I need to be on the latest service pack of the OS, then it lists Windows XP (SP3) Windows 2000 (whatever the latest one is, I forget exactly what it says) Windows Server 2003 (same as Windows 2000) I have checked and verified that the POSReady is on SP3, but it still fails to fully connect to Windows Updates, and rejects me as if it is an unrecognized OS. Unlike some of the similar questions listed by this fo…

deleting contacts from hotmail
by Guest MustacheMike- 0 replies

I have a contact in hotmail which was apparently imported during syncing with my phone. This contact has resisted all tries to delete it. This contact replicates itself over and over (more than 6,000 times). I have tried to select the contact, click "select all" and delete, no go. It will not delete all the entries. I have tried to combine the entries but am limited to 25 entries (one page) at a time. This would mean a complete day to do over 6,000 entries. I believe the contact contains some sort of virus which attached itself to the contact information. Any suggestions? Continue reading...

MSE failure to clean rootkit trojan
by Guest DaleEllenburg- 0 replies

OS is XP (SP3). Prior to installing MSE I was using McAfee and Webroot spyware both provided as part of MSN Premium membership. I updated at the recommendation of MSN to the MSE protection system, since installing MSE i have gotten repeated warnings of a rootkit trojan. repeated cleansings and restarts gives same info. as a ploy i ran the MSE program folowed all instructions but upon restart turned computer completely off disconnected power supply and reumed operations the next day. to my surprise system upon booting indicated same DOS/Auleron.E trojan still active to my greater surprise when i reviewed the history data for the "down" period it displayed the trojan was…

Guys Microsoft Security Essentials is not reliable! Save your computer now,Its better late...

So,I have genuine windows7.I had been using the avast free(0$) antivirus for about a year now.Just a few days back I thought of installing Microsoft Security Essentials(MSE) and removing the avast one. There was a file that I could not download into my computer because avast showed that it is "Win32-Virut" trojan horse and it removes it instantly. That was an important file for me but it was attached to a virus. Then I removed the avast and installed MSE.Performed a full scan.100% okay shown. Then I again brought the file( infected file) and scanned with MSE.But the report was the file was clean. No virus,no malware, nothing.I got amazed. Then I removed MSE and re-install…

Not all quarantined files show under "view quarantined files only".
by Guest GerbenS- 0 replies
But they do in "view all items", under history. For example today i had out of nowhere (stupid ad) 3 different viruses (i think) java/blacole.es js/blacole.ref.g js/blacole.AR 2 of those are exploits and i think the middle one is the trojan. Anyway only the blacole.AR showed up under view quarantined files. And so i could only remove that one. I checked the programdata map for the other quarantined files but nothing else is left listed there....soo.. what does this mean? that the other 2 entries were fake listings or perhaps got deleted in another way? Since it was a bunch of jar.cachenumbers.tmp -> inc.class files and some temp. internet main[1]…

I had to do a system recovery using my Recovery Disks I had to make when I first started to use my computer. But that's another story. I was using AVG Free 2012 version. So after I did the restore I deceided to use Microsoft Security Essentials that I never used before. I am using Microsoft Home & Business Office 2010 because I always used Microsoft Outlook as my Email. My question is: Is my Outlook and all the rest of the Office Aps.protected under MSE with Real Time Protection? Also how can I verify this? Thank You for any answers. Wayne Ramsay Continue reading...

How can I validate a digital certificate for a .dll from a computer that's offline?
by Guest CevinMoses- 0 replies

We have a network of engineering computers that is isolated form the Internet for safety/security reasons. New software we just installed is based on Microsoft's .NET framework, and we finally traced our horrendous lags to a series of ports being opened up to Verisign and CyberTrust and found out that some of the new .dll's have digital certificates that the system is trying to validate. The software vendor says that it is not anything on their end, but is an OS policy/requirement that they seem unable to help solve dispute our annual service agreement. How can I get around this without connecting the computers to the outside world? Is there something I can disable on my…

Office 2010 Pro SP1 Problem
by Guest scalyback1- 0 replies

I am currently creating a new Windows 7 image to deploy where I work, I have used the MDK and that part has been great, Office 2010 Pro installs and I have slipstreamed SP 1 into the deployment, my first problem was getting 4 KB's not to show in Windows Update. (KB's 2553270, 2553310, 2553290, 2583935) even though I used the MDK to install them, and they show installed in the "View Installed Updates" Windows Update still said I need to download/install. I devised a simple answer map a share to the software in DOS and using admin credentials ran each KB manually, rebooted and put my admin details in for the share to show it again and I could then Shutdown and Install updat…

Printing from Toshiba Copiers in IE9, strips user name and departments codes from print job.
by Guest lucky77713- 0 replies

This issue seems to be occurring randomly on all different OS's. Most commonly Win7, 64 bit home premium, SP1, IE9. Weird part is some pc's with same specs work and some don't. The pc's are in all different environments for all different customers. The issue though is always the same. Customers can print from any programs and also from firefox and google chrome without a problem. However when printing from IE9 it's strips the users name and print codes from the job and when you look at it in the print queue all you see is the number of pages and sets. The issue is occurring with all models of copiers, with current firmware and current drivers. If we disable "Prot…

by Guest ygoshy- 0 replies

I can no longer access a website that requires verisign client external certificate after downloading internet explorer 9. The process of logging in is as follows: A) The website is opened and checks for a valid certificate B) Internet Explorer gives a prompt to choose a certificate C) You choose the correct certificate Internet Explorer inevitable gives us an error:Internet Explorer cannot display this webpage. And that's where everything ends. Everything used to work perfectly fine in Windows 7 with IE8. Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong? I'm guessing it's just a matter of security settings in Internet Explorer, but I'm really not quite sure. I ho…
