Interested in setting up a test environment that emulates large enterprises with access to Windows 7 Enterprise. So need a KMS key. I see MSDN Essentials is the minimum required to get access to Windows 7 Enterprise. However, will MSDN Essentials subscription grant me access to a KMS key? If not, what is the minimum MSDN subscription or other subscription I require to obtain a KMS key? Thank you. Continue reading...

Hi, MSE not installing on Win7 x86. I looked through the multiple answers from other similar questions and i still can't get MSE to install. I tried uninstalling and most of it went away, but part of it still remains, so now i have no anti-virus and i can't install, because it says it needs to upgrade and can't find the files (since they're no longer there, i'm not sure what to do). Please help! Continue reading...

can't install MSE on new PC...

Aloha... I just bought a new HP Pavillion with an AMD processor, 6Gb or so , pretty normal for home use. It replaced a 5 year old model that had a virus and was frozen up. It worked fine until my wife wanted to use the old external hard drive to back up the new computer, hoping our pictures would still be there. I had hesitated to do that for obvious reasons, and now it seems that might have been a mistake. The situation is that I can't access system restore... or import MSE, or update my Malware account. The computer tells me it's operating fine, and getting updates daily, but really hasn't for two weeks. It's getting more erratic all the time. I'm asking is there anythi…

by Guest samsman- 0 replies

I HAVE A VIRUS that has broken links to desktop and start menu icons. When I tried to restore the last date I was optioned was to the very date the virus appeared. This automatic restore point is an issue with 7. 7 was preloaded without a backup disk on my laptop at point of purchase and is a legit copy. My biggest problem is that every time I open a link on my desktop every icon both on desktop and startup menu takes on that prgamme so when I try to start another I get a flag program does not open because it was linked to last etc. It is a real pain in the butt. i used to have Windows vista but 7 has been great so far can anyone give me a solution for this. I have tried…

Good day to all of you. I have a problem running a computer start up script policy under our network. I created a shared folder on the network and giving everyone read/write permision to it. I placed a start up script there to install a software for the machines. It works fine with windows 7 but it doesn't with windows xp. It's giving me a UserInit event error 1000 which says access denied. Any help would greatly be appreciated. regards, Wilson Continue reading...

Deployment Toolkit 2012 RC1: Windows 7 policies and settings different, despite standard...
by Guest hunterbuchanan- 0 replies

Imported Windows 7 Pro x86 and x64, made separate task sequences for each (Standard client task sequence), created new media including everything, copied all media to a flash drive. After running either task sequence, Windows 7 Pro is installed, but many of the policies and settings are different than they should be after a totally standard installation. Even after changing known security options, I am unable to access a Linux-based file server that is essential to our network and organization; it asked for my username and password, then said it couldn't connect. The root of the issue, however, is not that I can't get to the server; the root of the issue is that MDT is…

by Guest terrymn99- 0 replies

I purchased Office 2010 professional plus a couple of months ago. I couldn't get the product key to work. Then got busy, and am just getting back to tying. Now I see that my product key has expired. Is there a way activate still? Otherwise, how do I contact Microsoft...I can't seem to find any number where I can talk to someone. The automated number asks you to start the activation wizard. I don't even know what that is. Continue reading...

What should I expect from 800 clones?
by Guest EbenSquid- 0 replies

I recently changed locations, and have discovered something quite troubling. The 2008 Domain at my new location just upgraded to Windows 7, and I discovered that every one of the 800+ machines were clones. As in, No Sysprep, no SID change, nothing. Pop machine "A"s Hard drive in the Hard Drive copyer, make a dozen copies for room 1, install them and add to the domain. Time to upgrade room 2? Pop machine "G"s Hard Drive out (Machine "G" being in room 1) and copy it a couple dozen times, and so on. I know that this is NOT SUPPORTED BY MICORSOFT, but that argument isn't getting much traction with management. What are the errors that we will be seeing due to not sysprep-i…

Our desktop won't keep the Microsoft Essentials turned on, its off whenever we turn on the desktop, how do I change this? I'll turn on the computer and ME won't be on, it has to be manually turned on. Is this a setting that I don't know of? or did a virus get by? There is no other antivirus on this desktop. Been having issues with closing internet explorer 8 and 9, then immediately reopening itself. I have a friend that when she is on facebook and she is doing her thing on there, she has a case of multiple IE windows opening. I've tried to reset IE to default settings, but to no avail, it doesn't help. This is happening on IE8 and IE9. This started with her on Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. I have recently helped her install W7 Pro x64. Kept IE8 installed on it to see if she continues to have the multiple windows opening. And Once again, she get's multiples. I on the other hand also have that problem when closing IE9 out of yahoo mail. Once in a great while it happen…
