Windows 7 WDS answer file not working.
by Guest z00mer22- 0 replies
I have been tasked with deploying WDS (first time) and what a headache it has become. I installed WDS on Server 2k8 R2 64-bit which I setup pretty quick. Next, I successfully captured a Windows 7 32-bit OS. I can deploy it to workstations successfully as well. I have been attempting to create an answer file, but have had the worst time. First, I found out that you cannot create a catalog file for 32-bit systems on a 64-bit server OS using Windows SIM. So I installed Windows AIK on a 32bit versions of Windows 7. I then tried to create the catalog file on there, but it failed as well. So I then used the catalog file from the Windows 7 32bit DVD and created my …

Reactivation for a WIndows 7 upgrade
by Guest Kayza Kleinman- 0 replies
I have a computer that came with a choice of Windows XP or Vista and I set it up with XP. However, the machine was eligible for an upgrade to Windows 7, which I obtained and installed on my computer. I've had to reinstall a couple of times due to problems with the computer. I had to do so fairly recently, but things seemed to be ok. Yesterday, the machine informed me that my copy of Windows is not genuine, and offered to allow me to enter a new key. The problem is that the only key I have is the one on the conputer itself, which is for Vista and is apparently invalid. How do I get this corrected. I ran the reporting/ diagnostic tool that I see tech support has asked for …

Every time I go to Uninstall MSE from the control panel and click "remove" it gives me the message: "Microsoft Security Client Installation Wizard can't find files necessary to complete te installation. To install this program, please download the installation again from the security client website" But I try to reinstall it and it gives me the message that " MSE is already installed in your computer". But then I can't run the program properly because it gives me error message: 0x80070715. HELP! Continue reading...

HELP! IE redirecting from the MSE site to a bogus site
by Guest TheRealMike- 0 replies
If I paste the URL of the MSE download site (www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=5201) into IE, I get redirected to a variety of sites that are reportedly selling software to "fix" my PC. The virus appears to be in IE (as opposed to deeper in the network, such as DNS), since pasting the same URL into Google Chrome works as expected. I was able to access microsoft.com and walk the links to the MSE site, so it does not look like the Conflicker worm. Help! I don't see any other overt signs of an infection, but if it's redirecting selected URLs, I worry about what else it might be doing. I just completed a full scan with MSE, which found nothing. Problem playing stream in IE9
by Guest eSolutions- 0 replies
We can't get a stream that always played fine in IE8 to play from within IE9. When we click on the stream it opens a new window as always, but the stream does not initiate. We can play the same stream fine in Firefox 10. We tried disabling and re-enabling the Windows Media Player add-on, but that had no effect. We are currently running IE9 v.9.0.8112.16421 on Windows 7 with SP1 on a 64 bit system. Any suggestions? Continue reading...

Hi, In IE 8 is it possible to have multiple rows of the favorites toolbar? I have a number of favorites that I go to quite frequently and it would be real handy to have a second row on the favorites bar. Just wondering if this is possible at all. If so, how? Thanks in advance, Linn Continue reading...

Why is IE10 CP 64 Bit starting 32 bit processes for browsing?
by Guest Noel Carboni- 0 replies
On Windows 8 CP, you can start IE10 64 bit, as you could with the DP, by running: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe By contrast, the 32 bit version is here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe So how come when you start the 64 bit IE10, does it start 32 bit processes for rendering the actual pages? This is different from the IE10 in the DP, which ran all 64 bit. If you have a 64 bit system, fire up the old Task Manager if you don't believe me. Can't turn on MSE: error code 0x800705b4
by Guest Marshall Reid- 0 replies
This morning, I turned on the computer and noticed the icon for MSE in the system tray was red with an x on it. I opened MSE and it said "Computer status - At risk" and "Real-time protection is turned off. You should turn it on." First of all, I have no idea why it wouldn't be on - it's always on, and I never turn it off. But more importantly, when I click the big red button that says "Turn on", nothing happens. It acts like it's trying, but then times out and gives me the error code 0x800705b4. What do I need to do to get this to turn on? I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1. Thanks in advance for your help. Continue reading...
