MultiPoint 2011: GPO for multiple home pages in IE8 not working correctly
by Guest AJSCH1061- 0 replies

Hello, The following issue is one which I have previously posted to several other forums. The folks in the Group Policy forum told me to redirect it to the Windows MultiPoint Server forum, but seeing as how I haven't gotten any answers there after a week or so, I figured I should post it here too. So here goes... I have some Windows MultiPoint 2011 servers being used in a lab/classroom environment, and I am using Group Policy to tweak quite a few settings. One setting that the lab instructors have asked me to add involves setting multiple home page tabs in IE8. I'm trying to do this via User Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Windows Comp…

Syatem Recovery Questions
by Guest nicholas98k- 0 replies

urgent questions here. I want to change my one (and only) hard disk from MBR to GPT. I decided to backup my stuff and make a system image. I proceeded to do my stuff. After converting to GPT, I went to restore my OS. Question: After restoring, will my hard disk be reset to MBR? Will I lose my partitions? Another question: Can I use a Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit Install DVD to access my system recovery options and restore my 64-bit Windows 7 home premium? Will it be compatible? Does it matter? Thanks a lot Continue reading...

I just downloaded MSE but how do I run the scheduled scan?
by Guest Topher1976- 0 replies
Simply modifying the settings in the MSE program window doesn't run the scan. I've noticed after downloading that in the Task Scheduler there are two entries, one for MP Scheduler and one for MP Idle something or other. I'm assuming you have to make adjustments here in order to solve the issue? Continue reading...

Microsoft Security Essentials found risks that it could not remove, it said to download Offline Defender, I did and ran it. It found the threats and removed them successfully. Security Essentials still says it found a risk that it cannot remove and tells me I need Offline Defender. I ran Offline Defender again and it says my PC is protected. Why is Security Essentials still finding threats and what can I do about them? Continue reading...

Printing Emails in Outlook 2010 that contain HTML code in the body of the message
by Guest MartyFranek- 0 replies

Hi everyone. There is another thread describing my exact scenario, although there appears to have been no attempt offer any suggestions since it was initially posted over two months ago: Contacting Server for Information When Printing Email in Outlook 2010. So I thought I would phrase the question differently and see what anyone might have to say about it. It appears that on our PCs with Windows 7 Professional and MS Office 2010, when a user attempts to print an Email with a web page embedded in the body of the message, a message about "contacting the server for information" appears for upwards of 45 seconds, and then after another two or three minutes, the message fi…

Unable to save files to fully acceptable network

Hello, Our office has 2 servers, 1 is windows 2000 the other 2011 smb essentials. I have about 8 windows 7 machines in the office. They all access both servers without issue. That was until earlier this week. One of the machines began having issues saving to network shares on the server running windows 2011 essentials. The problem started with excel then spread to all programs. I can access the drives fine, no permission issues or lag. I can copy and paste / drag and drop files to the network shares with no lag or issues. It is only when you try to save a file from a program such as notepad, word, excel, etc. directly to the network share does the process either have i…
