Re-enabling Administrator Accounts on SBS 2008
by Guest Jon CC- 0 replies

Hi In need of urgent help. Have a friend running SBS 2008 whereby they recently changed support and in doing so the new Admin disabled two accounts (the main Admin account and the Backup Admin account) thinking they were unneccesary accounts only to then realise the two accounts were the only Administrator accounts. Apart from two Client profile accounts these were the only four accounts created out of the box when the SBS was installed. Subsequently no one can currently log onto the SBS Server as the only two accounts that had log on rights to the Server have been disabled. Is there anyway of re-enabling the Admin accounts to regain control of the S…

Adding a group to access control list in another Domain
by Guest PMC1- 1 reply

Hi, I'm want to allow an admin from an external domain access my active directory so they can add a Global Security group from this domain (DomainA) to the access control list of a share on the external domain (DomainB). I want the admin in the external domain to only have Read Access to this domain so giving the external Admin the password to an administrator account on this domain is not going to work. So my question is when creating a user ID for the external admin to use, what rights should I grant him to allow him read access to this domain such that he can pull down groups from DomainA to be added to ACL's on DomainB Configuration: Both domains are i…

Thanks for the how-to on the regedit. I, too, had those already set as you describe. Since I'm encountering other bizarre issues, I'm going to bite the bullet and restore to factory specs. Thanks anyway! I do appreciate it. -- WesStrueb ------------------------------------------------------------------------ WesStrueb's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/84640.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-security/754147.htm http://forums.techarena.in

The correct value is below the location path. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Epoch Query Value;Set Value HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy Full Control;Read HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Defaults\FirewallPolicy Full Control;Read For the DHCP Client service, the issue may occur if the “NT Service\DHCP†account does not have the necessary permissions for the …

I have an two windows 2000 servers - 1 is a production and 1 is backup. When I switch over to the backup server, I take the prod one offline, change the server name and the ip address to the production one so I don't have to remap the the drives on the windows xp computers to the shared folder. (2000 server is a workgroup server). I have issues with slowness and data record locking errors in a software package. do I need to remap the drives even though the server name\share name is the same but the physical hardware is different?

For testing, I need to create a 3-Tier CA hierarchy with Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition, following the procedures for the Contoso example described in " Best Practises for Implementing a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Public Key Infrastructure". During configuration, I encountered a problem in creating a Certificate request for the Intermediate CA (the 2nd tier Policy CA): The policy statement information specified in CAPolicy.inf file located in %SystemRoot% is not included with the request. I verified that CAPolicy.inf has the correct syntax, according to the document: [Version] Signature= "$Windows NT$" [PolicyStatementExtension] Poli…

Re: UAC/Run as Administrator Issue
by Guest Tulsaboyw- 3 replies

Uac IS useless if you cant automate some obviously correct stuff that will always get UAC run... The reality is that UAC seems to get in the way more than it really helps. I will be turning it off real soon, as it seems every body says get used to it and 'hit' continue. Which means everybootup I have dozens of apps to 'continue' ..so it either gets turned off, or bypassed.. Im already running other stuff for security including NORTON & behind a double router setup (per my inhouse setup). so I figure IM ok. -- Tulsaboyw
