Excluding remote Homedrive from command search path
by Guest zWaR- 0 replies

Hi, at our organisation, we are using a remote homedrive on client machines (OS is Windows XP). This drive is actually a folder on the FileServer on which also some confident information reside. Since the homefolder is in the command search path this means it is accessible to the system what is in general a bad idea and is searched everytime a command from command prompt (or run window) is issued, even before the %SystemRoot%/system32/ folder is searched. I know the folder on the FileServer is protected with user and group rights, but anyway I fear that this access is enought to let somebody gain access to the confident material. I have 2 questions r…

Temporary Internet Files
by Guest Jay- 4 replies
When I try to print a web site image to an Adobe PDF file, Vista states that for security purposes the pdf file will be placed in a "virtual" temporary internet file folder, then opens the virtual folder on C drive, but then doesn't save the file in the folder. I've been able to work around the problem by disabling all user account control security, but there has to be an easier way. I'd like to save files without security forcing them to a specific folder. Ideas? Thanks.

Hi I've been trying to find a way to disable the "Open File - Security Warning" for a specific file. Preferably via local group policies. Is there a way to do this for specific files and not just file extensions? Or can Vista only disable it for file extensions? Thanks in advance. -- strker250

Is it possible to set up a Linux NLB with Windows 2003 Architecture? I have a SQL Server Reporting Services (Two Servers) with a Zeus (Software Vendor: http://www.zeus.com/) NLB running on Linux (Suse 9) providing load balancing. I have Kerberos set up and working when I connect directly to the SQL Server Reporting Services machines to both Analysis Services and the Relational Engine. (Different machines) Now I am trying to add a NLB (Non-Microsoft) and wonder if it is even possible. Saw a blog stating that I have to set the SPNs for the Load Balancer, but not sure how? ::In Photoshop, scrolling through the available fonts the application would freeze. Suspecting a font corruption, I scanned my C:\Windows\Fonts folder and noticed several large unrecognized fonts.:: ::Upon examining the properties of several large font files, I found that they were of Chinese origin and were installed under the Security Group: TrustedInstaller.:: ::TrustedInstaller is not defined to my Security as a user or group. It seems that my XP Home ed SP3+ / AVG 8.0 Internet Security Suite a/v is false positive'ing the workings of my (until now - trusted ) "Business Logic\UWC" - "OneClickCleanup," which was a free full version on "Computer Shopper" DVD several years ago. Unknown user under Security Permissions
by Guest xxl3ww- 1 reply

Every time I save a file on a Windows Vista PC, it adds a security permission for "Unknown User". I took control of all my older files that were like this and added my account as the only user under permissions. The problem is, all the new files I save still add the unknown user and a weird icon of two people over my new document. Does anyone know a solution for this?
