How prevent recipient from seeing Categories assigned to email?
by Guest SecurityMinded- 3 replies

I JUST LEARNED that recipients of emails I send can see the category(s) I assigned to the email! This is freaking me out! Imagine I am a psychologist. I create a category for each client. The category formula is: Last, First Condition First Visit Date e.g. Rodriguez, Alex DRUG ABUSE 4/1/2003 Baldwin, Alec ANGER MNGT 5/3/2006 Ryder, Winona KLEPTOMANIA 11/21/2003 Every time I make an appointment or task, I assign it to the client via the Category in Outlook 2003. BUT...If I send an email and want to assign a category, EVERY RECIPIENT SEES the category(s) in the Keywords header. How do I NOT have this happen?! e.g. if I send an email to a cou…

Windows Vista and Thumbs.db
by Guest Zeitzeuge- 3 replies

Good Day, they told me, that by default windows Vista automatically looks for jpeg-images on connected external hard- and DVD/CD-drives and creates thumbnails from them in the local user directories in a data base called thumbs.db Is this true? If yes, could we seriously discuss in here the consequences of this sort of action? -- Gerhard Felsing

Hi, I decided to reinstall windows. I installed Windows 7 64 again. I had windows 7 64 installed before, but I suspect for this question Windows 7 64 behaves similar to Windows Vista 64. I have ghost backups of my previous install. However, I forgot to export 1 certificate from IE that I need. Is there any way I can get it back by mounting a ghost image and browsing the files? Can I somehow pick out this individual certificate either with windows explorer or with some special piece of software? Or is there a way to restore all IE certificates or all windows certificates to my new install? by copying files from the ghost image to my new windows drive?…

How can I allow for Automatic Updates work for Limited Users on non-Microsoft programs?
by Guest Eric Wood- 6 replies

I have some Vista Business users running with Limited accounts so that they can't install programs with the admin password. MS Automatic Update service seems to be running as Administrator so those patches get applied seemlessly and without my user having to call me to apply them. But I would truely love the ability to allow for Firefox and Adobe Reader to update themselves as well? Is this possible? I just can't keep up with all those updates on those two program for everyone here at work. Hey, I wonder if Google Updater can update these apps seemlessly: http://pack.google.com/intl/en/pack_installer.html Ummm... I guess this runs as a System Accoun…

Blue lock on icon?
by Guest Phil- 1 reply

Hi, I have an Access program that gets installed from a setup.exe program created in office developer. Part of the install is a icon that is placed on the desktop. I have a person that installed the software and he tells me that the icon has a blue lock over the top of the icon. I've never seen this. When he tries to run the program it opens, but then he gets an invalid path message when he tries any of the options. Can someone tell me what the blue lock means? Thanks, -- Phil

Unable to Access Internet Explorer 7

March 7, 2009 I can no longer use internet explorer. Every time I try to load IE – 7, I am redirected to a URL. It is: 'Parkingspa.com' (http://hus.parkingspa.com/handcrafted2.asp?run_init=1) This URL offers to fix IE-7 or reinstall it, for a price. That’s great. First they infect my computer and then they offer, for a price, to fix it. Does anyone know how to get rid of this malware? I have scanned my computer with Trend Micro Anti Virus and also used Malwarebytes with no success. Any suggestions? Thank you. Bhannon948@aol.com March 7, 2009 I can no longer use internet explorer. WARNING! WARNING! ID10T error! Seriously, UAC is worthless and annoying, why would anyone want to leave it on, it's much less annoying to have the security center bug you. But many of us would like a way to remove this annoyance too and you spent the time to post that answer? -- emmasweeny

Hi, I have several clients that run line of business applications specific to their industry. What I am encountering is the line of business software requires that the user be an administrator on the local computer in order to write back and save to the registry. I do not want them to be in the Administrators group within the domain. Am I at risk letting them be Admins on the local computer. Any discussion is appreciated.

Odd errors while backing up
by Guest Bones- 0 replies

Hey folks! This is not a critical issue but it is driving me crazy and I haven't been able to find an answer to this on the net. Hopefully one of you exceedingly bright people will shed some light on the errors I'm getting. The setup is this: I use Arcserve to back up our various servers (all fully up-to-date Windows 2003 SP2), mostly using shares on those servers as the targets. Haven't had any problems with this procedure until I created our standard backup area on a new server that's running SQL 2005, which dumps its backups into this area. I've double and triple checked all permissions and they are identical to all the other backup areas on our networ…

Replace server that uses IPsec policy
by Guest Bentley- 1 reply

I need to replace a server running Windows 2000 Server that is uses an IPSec policy to encrypt traffic between it and one client station, with a Windows 2003 server. I do not need any of the new functionality of the Win2003 version of ipsec. I just want to do a one-to-one swap out. As a test, I created an identical policy and applied it to the new server and another client. That half worked, but caused the server to reboot every 3 hours with 1015 events, source Winlogon. I have now removed the new server from the test policy. There is no way for me to really test it until go-live, but does anyone have an opinion about whether I can just rename/reIP…

I am totally unable to find out how to enable this feature, though I'm told that it exists. I'm running Vista Ultimate. I've attempted to follow an article in PC Advisor (issue 165) and fell at the first hurdle! Quote from Mag :-<span style="color:blue"><span style="color:green"> >>Click the start button and in the search field, type "wf.msc".<<</span></span> I've heard tell of this "Search Field", but it does not appear when I click my start button. Using the "Search" > "For files and folders" method which is the only "search" I can find doesn't recognise the entry "wf.msc". No where in the "Help" files can I find re…
