A fix for FileError_22001
by Guest Max in KL- 10 replies
Has anybody found a fix for FileError_22001? Why are all the anti virus companies so quiet on this virus, I spent an hour in a chat room with Norton, no help, no advice, just the offer three times of connecting straight to my computer for 120 AU$ which I found strange as I live in malaysia. I have lost over 3,000 photo's due to the corruption caused by FileError_22001 I'm guessing there are lots of others badly affected loosing word, excel and JPEG files to the ravages of this nasty Malware. My fiance is really upset as all our personal photos are lost too. Any assistance greatfully accepted on how to restore these corrupted files.

swp2009 demo - malware story

Here is another malware hit. Read story! Ken Just killed this bastard swp2009 with a cocktail of MS Malicious software removal tool and then Malwarebytes. Phew. SAS, a favorite did not work for me this time around. I think the MST was the one that did the trick. Avira Free Antivir suspects 5 *.CAB Files to contain malicious Code
by Guest Ulf.Kriemeyer@yahoo.de- 5 replies

During yesterday’s search run Avira Free Antivir has moved 5 .CAB files to the quarantine area because they were suspected to contain malicious code (‘HEUR/HTML.Malware’). Unfortunately, each of the 5 files consumes approx. 46 MB (zipped: 45 MB) of space so that I am unable to upload/send them to Avira for further investigation. The name of the 5 files is always the same: ‘vs_setup.cab’. As one of these were located somewhere in the ‘Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition’ folder (I have been using Visual Express for nearly a year now and never had the .CAB file been detected before) and 3 others in a backup folder ‘Windows.old’, I wondered whet…

how to get permission for Shell.Application in JScript in local files (file://...html)?
by Guest Jeff- 1 reply
When I try to use Shell.Application, e.g. var objShell = new ActiveXObject("Shell.Application"); objShell.TrayProperties(); in JScript an html file on a local disk (accessed by file: instead of by http:), I get a JScript error "permission denied". I tried changing the security setting for "Local intranet" to Low, but that didn't make any difference. I tried putting the file path into "Trusted Sites", but it told me it only accepts https sites. What do I need to do so that Internet Explorer will run Shell.Application functions in a local html file? Thanks, Jeff

Zonealarm and Vista
by Guest Zeitzeuge- 2 replies

Zonelabs Zonealarm firewalls on XP-systems delivers a constant flow of blocked attempts to access the computer. Another computer with windows vista also uses Zonealarm but the there are absolutely no blocked attemps listed in the log-windows. What's the reason: Is the firewall badly installed or does vista block the attemps before the firewall does so...? Thanks -- Gerhard Felsing

Infected: user32.dll 1 2
by Guest Rinnousuke- 31 replies

A warning message popped up unexpectedly on my laptop by my antivirus software F-Secure. Infection: Trojan.Win32.Patched.fk Path: C:\Windows\system32 File: user32.dll The software couldn't remove the infection by itself, so I decided to manually rename it temporarily, which seems now like a bad move, and search for a way to fix the problem. I followed the suggestion of a related thread and tried to replace the user32.dll file in system32 with the one in i386, but found that the file in i386 is also infected. What should I do now? Regards Rinnousuke

access to shares in a workgroup
by Guest Special Access- 0 replies

This is a question on Vista Business. There is a workgroup with 4 workstations (1, 2, 3, 4) and 4 is sharing a folder. 1 & 2 can access that drive by simply mapping to the share, no name/password is required. When you try to get 3 to map, you are asked to provide credentials. Since the other computers can access the share properly, I would think the problem is on 3. There is a limit of 10 users on the share, and since 2 are connecting, I'm (I hate to use this word) assuming the permissions for the share are correct. I looked at the local security settings on all the workstations, they all seem to be set the same. Ideas? Pointers to where I'm scr…

Hello: I have a critical question with a program if it is a virus or not. There is a game called Stress which destroys your desktop but I read comments of it with cautioned ratings. The only conflict is the author say it does not have malware. The file is from this unsure website: http://mouserunner.net The only thing I can do is wait and go for the answer. Thanks.

I can't stand permissions - I'm a stand-alone user and do not need them - I know how to turn them off but still get denied permission anyway and it drives me nuts - you Vista people don't understand the difficulty of trying to figure out "inherited"?? permissions and how to drill down or up to get the darn permissions granted and talk about "special permissions" - there's no way I can get in or out of that screen - even when I turn off User Account -the stupid icon shield comes up with a scary message that puts chills up and down my spine - come'on folks just tell me how to get rid of them - they make me want to go to a MAC - I know someone posted a way to…

SCEP client implementation .net 2008 c# - Help
by Guest Kinslayeruy- 0 replies
hello, i'm trying to implement a SCEP client library for the use of my company. I've read the scep draft and the rfc's related to the topic, then tried to use xenroll.dll (i'm using windows xp) to create a pkcs#10 message, but the CA's don't seem to recognize it (testing against a Cisco IOS CA and a Windows Server 2003 Standard CA with the MSCEP addon). Then i tried to envelope this message with the EnvelopedCms (System.Security.Cryptography.Pkcs.EnvelopedCMS) to make a pcks#7 envelope around it, but i couldn't found how to add the necesary authenticated attributes. I then tried many other thins (even a openSSL wrapper) but can't find the way to make this wor…

This is probably overkill, but this script will show all patches and stuff installed. It provides the option of connecting to a remote computer. Keep in mind you must have permission to pull the info from the remote computers registry. It needs a little cosmetic clean-up. Const HKLM = &H80000002 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE strComputer = "." strKey = "SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\" strEntry1a = "DisplayName" strEntry1b = "QuietDisplayName" strRunTime = Now () wscript.echo ("Script executed at: " & strRunTime & vbCrLf & vbCrLf & vbCrLf) strComputer = InputBox ("What is the name of the remote computer?") How to detect which certificate is necessary for a certain web page?
by Guest Jerome Biau- 0 replies

When I go to certain web pages then occasionally additional certificates are necessary. When I call e.g. https://kaul.inf.fh-bonn-rhein-sieg.de/home...lien/05_jsf.pdf then Internet Explorer 7 informs me at first: "There is a problem with this website's security certificate. The security certificate presented by this website was not issued by a trusted certificate authority. Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to the server. We recommend that you close this webpage and do not continue to this website.
