Renew Expired Digital ID?
by Guest ctc- 1 reply
Once upon a time I created a self signed Windows Default Certificate Digital ID and stored it in the Windows Certificate Store using Acrobat 7 professional. That Digital ID has now expired. Is there a way to renew that ID, or should I just remove it and create a new one to replace it?

trouble adding to Restricted sites in IE Options
by Guest Michael Walraven- 15 replies

Vista home premium, SP1 Internet explorer 7.0.6001.18000 attempting to add an address to the Restricted sites in the security tab of Internet Options. specific site is search.live.com, but applies to any other as well. response is that Sites added to this zone must use the https// prefix. This assures a secure connection. That response is expected when adding to the Trusted sites, not the restricted sites. I have in the past added sites to the Restricted sites, currently there are three sites in the list .intellitext.com .kontra.com .pulse360.com none of which have prefix of https:\\ Any clues as to what is happening would be welcome. multiple .inf file templates applied on the same 2003 server?
by Guest Martin Williams- 0 replies

Hello all, I have been given two .inf template files to apply to a 2003 Std. Ed. SP2 server. I have looked through each .inf file and they seem to have different, not conflicting settings. My questions are; Can I apply both templates to the server (via the import method) and will they both apply? Or will applying the second .inf file replace the settings generated by the first? Presumably any conflicting values held by each .inf file would be updated. So for example if 1.inf changed a password setting and 2.inf changed the same setting, the setting would be taken from 2.inf I i applied them in order? Any help/advice/links would be greatly app…

Windows Firewall
by Guest Connie Martin- 2 replies

Since activating Windows Firewall I have been unable to upload photos from my digital camera to my PC hard drive. The sound is "Device Failed to Connect". Is there a setting in Windows Firewall that I need to change, or set? I looked at "Exceptions", but I really don't know what to do there. I did add the Photo software program to the list that normally uploaded my photos from my camera, but that didn't help. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Hi, I have Vista Business and Vista Home laptops. The "Sharing and Discovery" settings in "Network and Sharing Centre" are identical. When I try to run net use \\ipaddress\IPC$ /USER:administrator password on the VISTA BUSINESS machine it works. but on the VISTA HOME machine I get: "System error 1385 has occurred. Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer." Is this a security feature or restriction of VISTA HOME and is there a way to map to the IPC$ share ? thanks, B

Virus & re-format
by Guest JoJo- 1 reply

Hello: I am using a windows 2000 desktop platform. Recently my machine picked up a bunch of viruses. So first I run my antivirus software. When I re-format a hard disk, does this ensure that all viruses are absolutely removed ? Can viruses hide in the Master Boot Record (MBR) - or elsewhere on the hard Drive - and if so will re-formatting/re-partitioning remove viruses from the MBR, etc ? What is the best FREE anti-virus software out there ? Thanks.

kerberos TGS for an IP address
by Guest Ondrej Sevecek- 8 replies

Hello, my tests show the following thing. I would like to hear please a confirmation of the fact, or something that would explain, what I do incorrectly or what to change. Vista never uses kerberos for servers (at least http, smb/cifs) which name is specified by an IP address, is that right? in different words: Vista (as against XP) never ASKS for TGS if the name of the server is specified as an IP address, is that right? By using the work ASKS I would like to stress the fact XP always asks for a TGS, which may not be available because of an appropriate SPN is missing. While Vista never asks for the TGS even if a correct SPN exists. I checked …
