Okay, I'm a real novice when it comes to computers so bare with me. I just had a problem with some pop ups and something trying to automatically install on my computer. I have a red shield with a white X in the middle of it appear on the lower right side of my screen. It tells me I have a security problem and wants to make some installations. I click no and it still tires to do it. I've run my McAfee deep scan and my Ad-Ware deep scan and it didn't help. I also just in Windows Defender and it did remove two trojans but it is still doing it. It tells me it wants to install "powerful virus remover free.com". It will also make my keyboard work for only severa…

I have problem in my Windows firewall Home Premium and it seems my Windows Firewall Authorization Driver (mdsdrv.sys) is missing under Device Manager (View>Show hidden devices>Devices by connection), I think this is the one causing the WF in not being started under services. Where and how to reinstall this driver? Already did the sfc /scannow and no error reported. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks!

Simple explanation pls

Hi I can understand how a virus can be spread/caught by the user invoking/ running the code. Cannot understand how your PC can be infected just by visiting a website. I know web pages can contain client-side scripts (e.g. javascript) that run on your machine. But I thought the browser was a secure environment e.g. in that these scripts cannot access files locally - unless through user interaction (browse button). I'm sure they showed some code on BBC "on-click" program - that showed the malware being loaded on the page_load event of the web page - i.e. before user even sees page.

I know that UAC is supposed to make things more secure in windows server 2008. the thing is, it's causing me many problem i can't resolve. Here is one. after i add my domain account to the administrators group in windows 2008, and log in using the domain account. i barely have access to anything. i can't even open a folder. it's saying access-denied. a simple program like BGINFO that display system information as desktop wallpaper won't even run because i don't have access to the program files folder. S.76. …

Internet sites

Good afternoon, I am looking to find a way to check sites that are being allowed through our Proxy server to ensure that they are sites that should not be accessed. For the actual sites I can go to the site and look around, eventhough I would like the ability to ensure that the site is not known for malware, but I am also interested in the links that appear that are not websites but links off of websites like users.storage.msn.com. Is there anywhere I can go to see what the purpose of those sites is Thank you for your help Richard Tracy

Windows XP Services - User Rights
by Guest Correy- 0 replies

Hello, I have a service set to run automatically at startup, but occasionally during updates we send out to our users it needs to be stopped. Normally only regular users login that are part of the Users group, not the Administrators group. It seems like the service(s) can only be stopped if a user is part of the administrators group. So I'm wondering if I can set that particular service to allow the built-in Users group to stop/start it without being an administrator? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Correy
