Windows Firewall connection rule to force VPN
by Guest Martin Connolly- 0 replies
I have a requirement to set up a firewall rule, so that all access to the internet is forced via a VPN connection, such that it goes via a managed proxy. I'm struggling to work of the settings for this! Can someone point me in the right direction please? To elaborate further: A home PC with a broadband connection. Set up a firewall rule, so that all networking establishes an IPSEC connection to a VPN server, after which all HTTP and HTTPS traffic is directed via a proxy server on the network into which the VPN connects. There must be no way to disconnect the VPN and gain 'direct' access to the internet. Thanks in antici Martin.

Enhanced On-Access Anti-Malware Protection stopped working
by Guest Carla- 1 reply

Hello everyone My OS is Windows Vista Premium Home Edition 32 Bits. I'm working with this OS since I have bought my recent PC, about one year ago. Besides a good antivirus and firewall always updated and activated, my Windows is also updated. Same thing to Windows Defender. About 15-20 days from now, when I log to my PC as an administrator, it appears, a few minutes later, a message in my desktop saying that Enhanced On-Access Anti-Malware Protection stopped working. It gives me two options: close the dialog box or look at the Internet for solutions. I don't know what this is, so I choose to close the box. Can you help out with this? What kind of pro…

Different tools for the same memory capture
by Guest Neil Jones- 0 replies

I have used Mantech's mdd_1.3 and win32dd to capture RAM on my laptop. The output file sizes are different. In real world, how do we decide which tools to use to capture volatile memory? In my test case now, I don't know which tool I should rely on. One other question, what tools are used to analyze volatile images? NJ

Kaikkein keskeisintä demokratian mukaisen kansalaisvastustuksen tallaamisen päälle on täysin keskustelemattomuuksiin jäänyt fakta, miksi …

2 missing .dll files (?) AFTER removal of spyware
by Guest PattiNS- 4 replies

I worked with the folks at Microsoft security past 2 days, which enabled me to get the nasty Vundo and firewall-bypass (among others) spyware and malware removed from my HP laptop. Now, after I (happily) no longer get those yucky popups on my PC since all the malware has been removed, I keep getting the following two (2) SIMULTANEOUS Microsoft Windows XP (home edition) popups AFTER I start OR reboot my PC: Error loading C:\WINDOWS\system32\kiramega.dll The specified module could not be found Error loading C:\WINDOWS\system32\falolofu.dll The specified module could not be found My question is: how can I get these two "error message" to not appear…

Should anyone here have ever read this thread: http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=2809...gistry+cleaners they will be aware that the gurus at Aumha do not support the use of Registry cleaners - period! You can therefore imagine my surprise when I read here ......... http://www.aumha.net/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=37253 ...... this instruction being given by Mr Bill Castner:- Quote: 1) Click on the following link and download the AntiVir Registry Cleaner to your desktop http://dl.antivir.de/down/windows/registrycleaner.zip 2) Create a folder on your desktop called Antivir and Unzip the file to your desktop 3) Double-click on the file …

File permissions unexpectedly changed
by Guest Steve Luttrell- 1 reply

I have Vista Home Premium SP1. Over the past 2 weeks or so I have noticed that several of my applications (e.g. Sibelius, MS Money) have begun to show problems with accessing files, and in the case of MS Money it actually deletes its file on exiting the application. I experimentally tried using "run as administrator" which eliminated a lot (but not all) of these problems, so it seems to be something to do with file permissions. What I want to know is how to revert whatever change has been made to cause these problems? I haven't knowingly changed anything myself, so I assume that one of the Windows Vista updates is the cause of the problem. Unfortunately…

trying to set up LDAPS with Microsoft CA
by Guest Ron Proschan- 3 replies

We're trying to enable LDAP over SSL, using Microsoft Article 321051 and our own Windows 2003 Server CA. I use the inf model in that article, and when we do the certreq -new request.inf etc., we get: "The request contains no certificate template information. 0x80094801 (-2146875391) Denied by Policy Module 0x80094801, The request does not contain a certificate template extension or the Certificate Template." If we add [RequestAttributes] CertificateTemplate = DomainControllerAuthentication we get: "The DNS name is unavailable and cannot be added to the Subject Alternate name. 0x8009480f (-214875377) Denied by Policy Module." If we add SAN…

Access is denied
by Guest Sam Hobbs- 1 reply

I am getting a c0000005 (Access is denied) error from a console program after the console program executes. The error dialog appears to be blaming the CLI (the .Net CLI I presume). More specifically, I am trying to use the Netbeans IDE (programming environment) for PHP scripting. It is not a programming problem, however. I am trying to use the option to use PHP as a command-line script. The script I am testing with is a one-line script that just has: echo "Hello"; It is frustrating, since I am not sure who to blame so I cannot be sure where to post this. The Problem Reports and Solutions does not find a solution. Does anyone have any suggestions …

RemoteDesktop: are admin privileges different?
by Guest Beemer Biker- 2 replies

NETCOP-DISCLAIMER: yea, sorry I posted in .general first Have run into a strange behavior and am trying to figure out what is happening. If I reboot a home vista 64 system from my office over RDP, the nVidia coprocessor (CUDA object) is no longer recognized and tasks that are supposed to run on it will not start. I have to go home and cycle the power. This does not happen if I am at home and I select restart. I looked thru the event logs and did not see anything out of the ordinary. If there was some privilege denied to remote desktop admins I would think it would show up in the security or system log. The only error message I can find is the one displaye…
