I have a client that has the Zbot infection on there computers/network. Having installed Microsoft Security Essentials, updated it and ran. Mse detects this infection, removes it and asks that the computer be re-started. Upon restarting the pc (Running XP SP3 + Updates) mse detects the same infection, removes it and the pc runs as normal. The next day the process starts again. I have started the machine(s) in safe mode, ran mse. and also done registry cleanup. Only to have the process start again, when the machines get re-started. Have also ran the zbot killer/fixer from Kaspersky. Starting to want to reload all the machines and the server (9 PC's running …

Hi I have found similar questions, but nothing for this particular combination. just installed outlook 2010, connecting to an exchange 2007 server. it comes up with a Security Alert: Exchange7Server.domain Information you exchange with this site cannot be viewed or changed by others. However there is a problem with site's security certificate. -The security certificate is from a trusted certifyin authority. -The security certificate date is valid. -The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site. -do you want to proceed? we have a 3rd party cert installed for OWA. this only comes up on the LAN, never got it with outlook 20…

Hello. I opened a Microsoft Word attachment to an email (using Outlook Web Access in IE9) and OPENED the file from the email rather than SAVING it (turns out to be a big mistake...). I worked on the document for a few hours, saving along the way. I never got a prompt from Microsoft Word to designate a location for the save so I kept assuming that I had either set the location at the beginning and forgot to do so or that it was saving the updated file in the Downloads folder. However, when I finished the document, saved, exited Microsoft Word, and tried to attach the file to an email, I discovered that, in fact, I had neither designated a place to save the file and it w…

Marvell Yukon 88E8059 NIC (HP Mini 5103) driver will not load in Windows Deployment Services
by Guest JakeAlbarelli- 0 replies
I've been driving myself crazy with this! I've searched around without much success. We have a considerable amount of HP Mini 5103's that use the Marvell Yukon 88E8059 Network Interface Card and I cannot get the NIC to work with Windows Deployment Boot images. I'm a pretty competent guy and I've been working with WDS for a couple years and I'm quite familiar with it. I've tried the following with the drivers provided by HP and Marvell. These are the 32bit drivers and 32bit WinPE and Windows Boot Images. I've installed the above drivers on a standard x86 WinPE image using DISM and the network interface works fine. I get NIC lights and I can ping and trace route with no…

Preparing to configure Windows... for 13 hours now
by Guest Le Pivert- 0 replies

I reinstalled Windows 7 for reasons that could be explained in an entirely separate thread. Anyway, Windows 7 is stuck on the "stage 3 of 3 Preparing to configure Windows" screen and has been since late last afternoon. So for a good 13 hours. I'm not supposed to turn the computer off... So do I wait until the world comes to an end or do I have other options? --- Yes, this is happening after running MS Update after the reinstall. We really don't have this kind of time to waste. Pros and Cons of Moving from Office 2007 to Office 2010
by Guest Keslaa- 0 replies
I have been asked to look into moving from Office 2007 to Office 2010 at the same time we move from Xp to Windows 7. I am all over the change but am meeting resistence from some quarters. The chief complaints are that this would be too much change for the users to handle and that any macros written in 2007 will not work in 2010. How much change in layout, functionality and operation will the user expect to see? From where I stand, I don't think the jump will be too dramatic. The ribbon was always the hold-up for the change from Office 2003, but since we are already on 2007, this doesn't seem like much of an issue. What about the charge that macros won't work? Anything pre…

Windows 7 and AD LDS
by Guest Casual Trash- 0 replies

Hello I have installed the AD LDS for windows 7 and I was following this tutorial: AD LDS Getting Started Step-by-Step Guide But when I try to connect to the instance with the ADSI Editor I get the following error: Operation failed: Error code: 0x20d6 No superior reference has been configured for the directory service. The directory service is therefore unable to issue referrals to objects outside this forest. I tested it on a windows server 2008 R2 and it works but on windows 7 it doesn't. There is only one instance and no forest, so the error is misleading, I tried upper and lower case, to add and remove parameters but nothing. I can connect to the service with…
