KB890830 MSRT V2.5 Dec 2008 not offered via AU yet

I have checked 3 XP Pro systems and 1 Vista Ultimate SP1 system and none of them have been offered the Dec 2008 version of the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool, but have received other updates from yesterday's releases. KB894199 does not indicate that this update has been pulled, and I have verified that V2.5 has not run yet by examining the %SystemRoot%\Debug\mrt .log files, they have not been updated since Nov 2008. I have also manually run Windows Update on another XP SP2 system, and it is not available via that channel either. Microsoft, what is the status of this update?

I've created a "word doc." contract for my company. On the contract I have created a table and have added values (prices for services) in the cells. The challangeing part is; a protan of this document (table/prices) I would like protected. As for the rest of the document (non-table) I would like to leave "open" for clients to fill and complete. Any thoughts on how to do this? Or is there a better program to achieve my goals? I.e. How to install a com dll with non-admin a/c, per-user
by Guest CHANDRA- 2 replies

Hi, I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate, Version 6.0, Service Pack 1.0 I've developed a com dll setup file, which gets installed properly with administrator a/c. But I want it be installed by non-admin a/c and it should be accessible just for that user. When I try to install the setup with non-admin a/c, it throws an error message saying "You do not have sufficient privileges to complete this installation for all users of the machine. Logon as administrator and retry this installation". I tried the installation by turning UAC on and off - but no impact. Also I tried changing the "Words" field of my setup.exe through msiinfo.exe (Some where its mentioned to change…

Had a game called Air Conflicts installed on my PC (Vista Home Premium) and it worked very happily, I got bored with the game and removed it. Have had some young relatives staying so decided to re-install it for them. It installed fine but when I try to use it I get "ac.exe has stopped working" followed by a message from Microsoft saying "Virus alert: Microsoft detected the Win32/PSW.Lineage.DN/ PWS-Lineage virus on your computer This problem was caused by Win32/PSW.Lineage.DN/ PWS-Lineage, a known computer virus. Rundll32 - target unknown file - how to troubleshoot?

Hello, recently had a virus that caught me by surprise. (on XP SP3) It decided to "show" itsef at a time the computer was unattended. (according to the logs Ireviewed) . When I returned to the machne bad things had been happening for about 20 minutes. (Included screens and screens of gambling sites, and the shell stopping and starting every 10 seconds after rebooting. I was most surprised because Windows Defender and Avast both had resident protection running. With the help of avast, Spybot S&D, Windows Defender and Malwarebytes, the machine is bootable and malware scans are not picking up anything else. However, I see something suspicious in the Tas…

rmtshare - open files
by Guest Joe- 0 replies

My predecessor either has a sick sense of humor or wasn't sure how to manage folders!! Most of our folders in all remote sites (1000's of folders across about 20 locations) are managed by the share permissions and not security. User and only user has full control in Share while Everyone has full control in Security. I was trying to correct these with minimal effort by using the rmtshare command. The issue is when I used the command to add myself to the share tab it works but if I try to delete the folder or make any changes it seems to keep the connection open. If I try to delete the folder remotely I get 'Access Denied' even though I can see myse…

Please read the entire post before replying. I'm using WinXP SP2 with the latest patches (except SP3) installed. While browsing the internet using a limited account, IE7 pops up the following message; exactly as it appears (I bet the bad guys meant to say CRASHES instead of CREAHES): ---------------------------------------------------------- ATTENTION! If your computer is struck by the spyware, you could suffer data loss, erratic PC behaviour, PC freezes and creahes. Detect and remove viruses before they damage your computer! cant boot into safe mode have antivirus xp 2008
by Guest Dusty- 6 replies

I ended up getting antivirus xp 2008. It had disabled ctrl alt delete and other functions. I shut the computer down and tried to start it back up and I got this screen saying my computer was infected. It then went to this blue screen that talks about dumping physical memory, etc. I tried rebooting into safe mode and it would get to the user profile screen. I have tried selecting administrator as well as the other logins and it will go into the welcome screen then the computer restarts. I have tried booting windows from a windows xp cd and acts like the cd is blank (which I know it is not). I put in a windows 2000 cd and it gives me 4 different o…

I have Macafee security that says I am being protected at the current moment. Maybe a day a go, Windows defender pops up with a shield with a x on it. When i open it the Malware protection has a read button and says check settings. Underneath of that it says Virus protection not found ( Windows did not find any anti virus protection on this computer) and Spyware and Malware protection (Windows Defender is turned off). I have Macafee, I have Virus protection and it says I am being protected, I have spyware and malwayre protection and it is turned on, but Windows security is not reading it I guess? I called comcast they said its a Macafee issue, I called Mac…
