If so, how difficult would it be to accomplish? Your help is MUCH appreciated. Thanks- bye- Larry ---------------------------------------------------------------------- A working unsecure OS is infinitely better than non-working secure OS. Just spent 1 week cleaning up the mess WUpdate made preventing hypothetical security problems. http://microscum.com/comsense/

Hey, I'm trying to let eMule scan my incomming files through Norton 360 automaticly. There used to be an exe. file in older Norton programs to get this done. According to Symantec this is no longer the case in 360. I wondered if it is at all possible to use the command that is used by Norton 360 when right clicked on a file to scan that file. After all the right click function in this context must give a certain command to start that filescan. Many thanks.

USB thumb drive read only

Hi I have Vista Ultimate SP1. I seem to have locked myself out from writing to USD thumb drives. I have tried several USB thumb drives in different USB ports. When I try to create a new file or erase a file I get "Access denied" messages. This happens with a general user account, admin account both in normal and safemode. I did have a try using gpedit.msc and under Comuter Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Removal Storage Access had set Removable Disks to deny write access. I have now reset this to Not Configure but I am still unable to write to the USB drives. Do I need to do something else to regain write access…

"Some updates could not be installed"??? Please help!
by Guest olly_k- 17 replies

Hi folks, I have jsut changed motherboards on my PC and had to 'repair' XP - I did this by trying to re-install then windows gave me the extra option to repair current edition - I didn't have a recovery disk so couldn't do this the official way but windows seemed to go through the install process and everything rebooted fine and windows started working again... I then had to activate XP over the internet which seemed to go fine. Trouble is, when ever I get critical updates I click the shield and I get a box like this... "Some updates could not be installed" - screenshot below... http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u270/olly-k/Image1.jpg The list s…

Umm, i'm having some problems with a dll file also, everytime i start up an executable, it tells me in a warning box: "c:\windows\system32\rovoomuwi.dll was not created to be executed in Windows or it contains an error". May not be like that in english, since i'm translating from Portuguese, though it does say something like that. It says on the title bar "program.exe - Invalid Image". Any ideas as to how to fix this? Thanks -- Aluaji

I sent this url http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/arti..._the_cheap.html to a friend via Hotmail and when he clicks on it it redirects him to this site http://info.mobile.ca.msn.com/en-ca/default.aspx I went back to my hotmail and opened the email in my sent folder and sure enough Microsoft is hijacking the url when I click on it. If I copy and paste it into my browser address bar it goes to the correct address.
