Desperate for assistance

There is economic sabatage going on! When I click on Norton (my virus protection) under network, it shows that 12 people are in my network. It gives a physical address and IP address for each one. But I didn't set up a LAN! This is on my home computer. They are hooked up to me remotely! I am trying to start a business doing website design, but they are tampering with my designs in my portfolio making me look bad! I won't be able to get any business if they continue! Yesterday, they even changed my passwords so that I couldn't get into my FTP or email. I discovered that I had hooked up to my DSL by plugging a LAN cord into the LAN hole. A techni…

by Guest Tim D- 0 replies

Problem: After installing the Certificate Services Web enrollment pages update KB922706 on Windows Server 2003 the “install this CA certificate†link generates an invalid security certificate for Windows Vista clients. More: For Vista clients, the screen to install the digital certificate states that “the Certificate you requested was issued to you†after the certificate is issued and then provides a link to “Install this certificateâ€Â. It then lists “This CA is not trusted. To trust certificates issued from this certification authority, install this CA certificate.†After selecting “install this CA ce…

I have a situation where I want to be the administrator for my son's laptop, and convert him to a standard (non-admin) account. He originally set up the laptop, giving himself admin privileges, but he is no longer allowed to use it in that condition style_emoticons/ I am now the passworded local admin account (same account used to install Vista), and AFAIK do not have the system Administrator (upper-case A) account activated. He has a "standard" account. However, he is clever, and will try to work-around to get admin access. I've read the "recover password / activate Admin /etc." links in the forum, and I have a few questions: 1. Can my local admin account O…

by Guest r. wales- 2 replies

while looking at the security event logs for my main file server / DC i noted several unusual entries from last night. The server is 2K3, current sp, and fully patched (including MS08-067). Beginning at 8:01:51 pm and going until 9:45:43 pm, there were entries for Event ID 673 for several of our users and a few machines. There was no one in at that time and all work stations were shut down. At varying times the different accounts showed up in two entries. Both were event id 673. all entries showed the client address as 127.0.0.1. the first entry service name was "fileserver2$" (where fileserver2 is a win 2k server at another branch) and the second ent…

I want to change the password requirements for my users. I can change the group policy but I thought there was another place to change it were you had more options. I want my users to have a safer, secure password but don't want the level of restirctions offered in the group policy. Is there another way to restrict the password?

I have a Vista and XP machine joined to a domain. The computer configuration in a group policy is not getting applied on the Vista machine. But user configuration is applied without any issues. I dont see any errors in the group policy eventlog except for the informational message that the Group policy was filtered out Default Domain Policy Denied (Security) Running gpresult on the Vista machine shows NULL SID listed in the group membership even though the DC seems to be sending Domain Computers(515) in the group membership attribute I also see NULL SID in the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Group Policy\GroupM…

Background: I had an SBS server fail to boot this week after the C: drive running out of disk space. Windows hopelessly corrupt, no amount of recovery console doing the trick. So, I reformatted C: and reinstalled Windows, including service packs, software, etc. I then tried to restore from ntbackup. This was unsuccessful with a kernel missing error. I booted to the SBS CD and reinstalled Windows to the C: drive without formatting. This installed a separate directory called WINDOWS0. I then attempted to restore with ntbackup again, and this time the restore was successful. Problem: We need all the disk space we can get on our C: partition sinc…

Internet Explorer 7 prompts login
by Guest robbyp- 1 reply

We have Sharepoint setup so that within Outlook 2003, if you click on Outlook Today, it will be a sharepoint site for us to post general announcements. The problem is that every machine with Internet Explorer 7 prompts the user to login when they click on Outlook Today, and those machines with Internet Explorer 6 works just fine. I've searched the web and found what everyone says is the answer, but still no luck. I've changed the Local Intranet zone security level to low, I've added the site name to trusted sites, yet it still prompts for a login. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.
