RE: Security Center says that Windows Defender is turned off

My Windows started to have similar problem yesterday. The Windows Security Center showed Windows Defender is out of date. but after mannual update, I received a message: "There are no new definitions available to download for Windows." In Windows Defender, it states Real-time protection is on and Definition version is 1.43.73.0 created on 9/4/2008. I have tried Mohit Kapoor's solution, but have some problem as Grich had. After I run winmgmt/verifyrepository, system responded "WMI repository is consistent". Re: Can not install a service (apache httpd server apache2.2)

Smithsonian: Your command is correct. But you need to login the "Administrator" account beforehand, not just an account with administrator role. It is different here. Mr Arnold: By the way, it is not clear how to do "run-as-admin" in the console. The answer in your link is meaningless to me. Apache CAN be installed in Vista and Windows Server 2008 and it works. I did it myself. If you do not believe you can do it yourself. -- wil2008 Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com

How can anyone visiting here for the first time have any idea that they will receive good ........ or bad .......... advice? I thought at first that the TechNet Communities must be monitored by Microsoft staff and therefore be relatively safe. I'm still not sure about that. Having come here (for ease of use, on someone's advice) it appears that no such protection applies and that it really is a 'free-for-all' and is, quite likely, a dangerous place to visit. This may not have always been so - and I do wish to stress that I HAVE received some excellent and helpful advice, much of which has enabled me to help myself more and better understand my PC a…
