Weird copy/paste situation - virus? 1 2

Hello, A friend has contacted me and said "Whenever I try to copy paste something my clipboard always contains this: hxxp://xp-vista-update.net/?id=71030000330. When I copy paste very fast (less than a second) then I sometimes end up copy pasting what I want, so it's probably some malware.." Has anyone any information which might help? TIA Dave --

Looking for a program to open all ports...

I want to determine what ports are being blocked by an intermediate firewall which I do not have control over, and which I'm not being told what ports are and are not blocked. What I'd like to do is run a program on a Windows server that will open all unopened ports and then I'll run a scanner such as nmap to see what is and is not being allowed through. NetCat could probably be used in such a way, I was wondering if there is something the already exists that can do this out of the box.

I am running XP with AVG; medium high security for browsing (IE) and no pop ups. I have had various trojans over the last few weeks, not sure of the source. Another person using the computer now and then plays some online games, but it could have perhaps come in through email, we have many contacts at this address. AVG got rid of some of the trojans. I tried the program at onecare.live.com , and it seemed OK after a restart, but after a few minutes AVG spotted a Trojan AAQN. Alright so I've been completely perplexed here. I run Windows Vista on~ AMD Athlon� X2 Dual Core Processor BE-2350 (2 CPUs), ~2.1GHz ATI Radeon X1250 2GB RAM and I work as a 3D Modeler. I use alot of programs such as Torque Game Builder and 3Ds MAX. Now I've disabled UAC and Windows Defender and the problem still persists. When I'm running say 3Ds MAX (happens with most of my developer apps) and I go to save, or open a file, certain folders will cause the entire application to crash; and this is WHILE saving.. so you can see my urgency. Can anyone offer a solution? Thanks

Basically put my young daughter changed the Admin password and forgot it "just to get past the stupid change password prompt". Now I cannot login as Admin. Needless to say this brings about several others issues re: updates etc. Is there any way to have the password reset or I can login with another ID and change the Admin password? We can login to other users just not the Admin. Thanks for any helpful suggestions.

this is crazy! it was working a few days ago and Im not sure what happened. All I want to do is to restore thumbnails for pdf files with adobe reader 9 in windows explorer. after installing - uninstalling and fiddling with reader 9, I have come to the conclusion that the problem arises from some administrative privileges on the registry. i know really dumb to say but i would like the icon there...have gone to firewall...change the way security center notifies me...have tried don't notify me but display icon...yes notify me and display the icon...but no icon appears...have also gone to the windows firewall settings dialouge box and have checked the box notify me when firewall blocks a new program...but still no icon.......firewall does work and blocks programs can't understand why i don't have an icon though. many thanks in advance -- mukooh

I installed Vista and encrypted OS-Partition and an additional Data Partition with bitlocker. After this my OS Partition goes corrupted with bluescreens etc. I tryed to repair something but without success. Unfortunately my partition information seems also lost during my trying to solve the problem. This means everytime when I try to boot with installation DVD ant type in "diskpart: list volumes" then I could see Boot Partition, CD-Drive but no bitlocker partition. I am running Windows Sever 2003 domain. All of my servers are running fine with the exception of the one that I have WSUS installed on. This computer keeps coming up with this error every couple of minutes. On of the problems of this error is that only GPO that are attached to that specific OU that it is in is applied. Every time I want to use a certain program that I use all the time (book-writing software; I'm a writer), I get the message that an unidentified program wants access to my computer. I tell it to allow the program access: that I trust the program because I know where it's from or I've used it before. I don't mind answering this once, for a program installed on my computer. I wouldn't mind having to do it more than once, if I was repeatedly accessing something on the web, rather than something installed on the computer. I thnik the answer is going to be no but thought i'd ask. Anyway to backup my tempates only to bring from production into a test lab? I have load of custom template i dont want to have to manually recreate if necessary. If the answer is no is there at leat a way to maybe export the settings for each certificate so I can refrence a spreadsheet when creating them so i dont have to go from screen to screen? Maybe export them using an LDAP browser maybe? Thanks.
