Can't seem to get rid of this. It comes up as a sign in box when I sign on to MSN home page that asks for my username & password. I hit cancel and I can continue to search the web. It keeps reappearing when I go to other web pager. It follows me. I've ran Norton Anti virus, AVG 8.0, Windows Defender, Spy-boy search & Destroy, Ad-aware, deleted cookies, history, etc and it keeps coming back. Anything else?

WF.MSC returns: "The Windows Firewall with Advanced Security snap-in failed to load. Restart the Windows Firewall service on the computer that you are managing. Error code: 0x6D9. This bloody god damn error codes are so useless! I mean why give me an error code, why not just translate the meaning ! Virus Scanning - Write Only Scanning
by Guest BobT- 1 reply
We have a Windows 2003 Server that is running Oracle, performing database replication and is used as an image file repository - over 1 terabyte. Virus scanning is enabled to both scan on reading and writing. I am trying to improve performance and believe the scan on reads is really not needed since scanning is done on all writes... What are the opinions or best practices on this subject? -- BT

Vista UAC on a Domain pc
by Guest John- 1 reply

Has anyone figured out a way to disable UAC in Vista Business without giving users the ability to add/remove software, yet STILL be prompted for admin priviledges when needed-similar to how XP Pro acts? We have a program that fails due to UAC, but when it is disable, it works. Disabeling UAC allows the user to install programs without having to be an admin...and NONE of our users have admin access. The exe for the program is on a server belonging to another department and they will not make any changes to the exe or let me run it in compatability mode for our users... Thanks!! John

Some relicate of Virtumonde
by Guest Baudouin de Spa- 6 replies

Hi all, I got the Virtumonde malware, and have succeeded to get rid of it. There's only one point left: when using Autoruns from Sysinternals (now Microsoft), I can see there is something left in HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\Authentication Packages That's a way to run C:\Windows\system32\byXQJYpP (which is a random file name given by Virtumonde, but I have deleted this file long time ago, which gives in Autoruns the message "File not found: C:\Windows\system32\byXQJYpP". I've disabled this entry in Autoruns, but if I delete it, it comes back again at next reboot (still disabled though). So there must be something left from Virtumonde somewher…

I am unable to access www.equifax.com using my Vista Ultimate SP1 system. Both IE7 and Firefox are unable to connect. I am running Norton Internet Security 2008. No other sites I have tried to access are blocked. I have checked for restricted sites in IE settings and have disabled all NIS protection. Parental controls are not turned on. I am able to access the site using two other systems on my network that are running XP SP2 with NIS 2008. Any ideas what is blocking this site?

rundll error message at start up
by Guest Steven- 1 reply
I am running Windows XP. I think I was hit by a malware. Although supposedly removed, ever since when I boot up, I get two pop up boxes on the desktop with the following messages: RUNDLL c:\windows\system32\dmnnjdfs.dll The specified module could not be found. AND RUNDLL c:\windows\system32\wudfbfoo.dll The specified module could not be found. I have tried to get rid of it with different freeware and commercial software security products, to no avail. Any ideas as to how to stop these pop-ups would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to try to help. Steven

Possible network intrusion - Cant trace IP!
by Guest Kris- 5 replies

Hello, I am looking for advice on how to determine where some potentially malicious network traffic is originating from? The situation is the Fsecure Firewall on a number of client machines on our network has blocked traffic reported as the following: Inbound TCP Malware - Bagle.Y in Remote port 9500 Remote address 192.0.2.42 Local Port 2535 Local address 192.168.16.24 All reports have identified the same remote IP address. On Monday morning I configured another linux based firewall (in addition to our security device firewall) that acts as a transparent bridge. This only allows port 80, 25, 1723 and 53. Since configuring this firewal…

Stubborn Trojan!
by Guest Brettster- 6 replies

I have a fairly virulent virus on my PC (using Windows XP). When I Google something in any browser and click on a link. Very often it automatically redirects to a shopping or marketing type spam page. It's not a popup; just a regular page. And hitting the back button usually accomplishes nothing. Here are some interesting aspects of this trojan. 1. Ad-Aware usually finds some spyware and removes it. (Spybot and Malware find nothing.) But if you then launch a browser, it immediately starts happening again. And yes, I've run Ad-Aware in safe mode. Run Ad-Aware immediately after lauching the browser, and it finds the spyware again. 2. Googling for "HijackT…

Slow IE and FF?
by Guest BobK- 6 replies

Hello, I just started to get very slow speeds (several minutes) when using IE6, FF2.0, and Filezilla FTP. So my Web access is really slow but email and OE6 Newsreader seems OK. I ran Adaware, SpyBot, and Super Antispyware plus AVG with no problems showing. Does anyone have an idea what I might do for checking a Web slow down but not an Internet in general slowdown? Thanks, Bob
