NDES in 2008
by Guest Neil- 0 replies

Hi I am trying to setup Certificate Services on Server 2008 with Network Device Enrollment Service (implementation of SCEP). NDES uses 2 certificate's to run the service 1. CEP Encryption 2. Exchange Enrollment Agent (Offline request) I want to duplicate these certificate templates to give the certificates a longer lifetime. When NDES is installed the 'Exchange Enrollment Agent (Offline request)' certificate is installed in the local Computer store. As far as I can tell the 'Exchange Enrollment Agent (Offline request)' certificate can only be issued to users so how do I enroll for my V2 duplicate 'Exchange Enrollment Agent (Offline request)' certifica…

Windows XP immediately reboots after login
by Guest Sheila- 6 replies

PC had indicated viruses last week and tech came and cleaned it up. However, apparently there is no antivirus program installed. This week noticed appearance of Antivir08 which I thought was AV put on by tech but found out it is malware. Shortly thereafter PC cannot be booted other than safe mode because after Windows login PC immeidately reboots. I was able to get into Safe Mode and install Malawarebytes Anti-Malware (as suggested in another forum) which indicated it removed Antivir08 but the reboot problem persists. Any ideas how to solve this? Since safe mode is only option to start successfully, I cannot get to Windows updates or other installs as …

Smart UAC Replacement 1.0
by Guest Victek- 14 replies

I just discovered a program called "Smart UAC Replacement 1.0". It's supposed to, well, replace regular dumb UAC. I haven't tested it yet and I don't know if it has anything to do with the true UAC mechanism in Vista. FWIW it claims to also work with XP and Windows 2000. I'd be interested to know what others think about this (once you get over the revulsion and disgust <g>) Here comes the link: http://www.replaceuac.com/

Certificate Templates and Web Access to Certs
by Guest doctordns- 7 replies

I'm trying to add a new certificate template. I've deployed it as per http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc783016.aspx, but when I go to the certsrv web site (http://dc1/certsrv), I can't see the template there. I know I'm probably just missing a simple step - but all suggestions gratefully received.

Have I Been Hacked?
by Guest TeeFran- 5 replies

Hello all. A couple months ago I was having problems with Vista and software not operating correctly, so I restored Vista to it’s original factory settings and things have been fine. I re-activated my purchased softwares and what-not. About a month ago though, I logged off and the next day upon hitting the button to turn the PC on it came on like it does when it boots from sleep or hibernate, and my wireless internet account was active. I closed the connection and shut the system down. The day after that I had to re-add my wireless internet connection as I was not listed with the other names in the connection box. Normally my wireless connection is the first …
