Windows 7 Backup - System image includes non system disk
by Guest andonevris- 0 replies

Hi, I am trying out windows 7 backup, hoping at last that I won't need a 3rd party backup solution. So far so bad! My first problem is how ridicilously slow the backup is, but this has been discussed at length elsewhere. My second problem is the backup stalls when I try to backup a folder which I know has got various bits of malware in. I am an IT pro and use the files in this folder for testing purposes. OK fair enough I guess, although I think the backup should handle this event a bit more elegantly. So I've zipped and password protected the offending files to hide them from the AV (security essentials by the way) The final problem which I just can't under…

I just want to slides to run like a cartoon
by Guest lost in loop- 0 replies

I want my slides to run continuously from one slide to the next so they look like a cartoon. I can't get the slide show set up to work with loop. Where is the timer? Does the transition set up effect the loop (if I could get it to work)? It should be simple and it's not. Can I use the animation tool? It doesn't look like you can run an animation with great than two slides. How can that be? Finally, I would like to preserve the first slide and then just add layers. Do I have to remake all subsequent slides with each new layer (if I could get it to work)? Continue reading...

by Guest Ray Lynch- 0 replies

After running a complete Scan, I looked at the History and saw that, under "Action Taken" there were several instances where a Trojan had been removed. However there appears to have been 2 instances where the Trojan was "Allowed". Can you please tell me how I Remove these. (I have double-clicked, right-clicked and read the screen from top to bottom, but I can't find anything that enables me to Remove them.) Thank you. Continue reading...

How much times do you need to run a scan?
by Guest Candystand- 0 replies

Hello, I am just wondering, does MSE (or another antivirus/antimalware program such as Malwarebytes) require a file to be scanned manually (eg. when downloaded from the internet) serveral times before a potiential detection-- or to rephrase it, it is necessary to scan an unnknown or downloaded file serveral times continually with the same antivirus (MSE in this case) before opening it, or does the initial scan already find all potiential threats/all there is to be found. For example, I used to only perform once quick scans once a day with MSE, but now, I am (somewhat paranoidly), doing an update check, then quick scanning once, and performing it again a few seconds aft…

Network Install Errors
by Guest Caseys_32- 0 replies
I created an unattended installation of Windows 7 that runs great off a DVD. We have quite a few computers that only have CD drives so I'm trying to get a network install to work. I took the install.wim file from the DVD and put in on our server leaving the rest of the files (~350mb) to burn on a CD. I used Windows System Image Manager to change the autounattend file InstallFrom Path to \\server\program\install.wim and added the credentials for our server. I also enabled the network for PE. The install gets to the part where it would copy windows files and says 0%...then it errors out. The error is: The partition selected for installation (disk 0 partition 1) does not me…

Browser goes to the wrong website
by Guest CTDrew- 0 replies

This problem seems to occur at least twice a day. When I try to go to a website it re-directs me to some random website, usually some type of search website or Yellowpages. I've scanned using AVG, Ad-Aware, Malwarebytes, and Microsoft Security Essentials (which I've scanned multiple times with), and they have not come up with anything. I have tried multiple browsers and they do the same thing. I have tried putting my computer in SafeMode and it happened there also. Any help would be great. Continue reading...

I recently had my laptop freeze and had to focibly restart it via the power button. After that, when i tryed to login on skype it sent me to a link in mozzilla firefox about index fiels or soemthing, I can't remember. I tryed opening IE but the window just briefly appears then immediately closes automatically. I tryed goign into windows features, and IE8 is already unticked, then when I tick it nothing happens, then when I untick it it comes up with that warning which I then click yes on, then nothing happens again. After this I tryed installing the latest version of IE, but when it finished installing it offered me to restart now or later, to which I clicked now. My comp…

Installed Win 7 on RAID in bios-set RAID mode; can I now enable AHCI in Windows and still boot...
by Guest s1rrah- 0 replies

Hi. I installed Windows 7 on a RAID0 array (bios set to RAID mode). Everything works great. Now I have installed a cheap (Antec Easy SATA) little hot swappable 5.25" hard drive bay in the front of my computer and connected it to one of my spare SATA ports on my motherboard (Asus P67 Sabertooth rev. 3). It reads drives fine as long as I plug one in before I actually boot my system. If the system is already booted in to Windows 7, the drive is not detected (ie "hot swapped/hot installed"). I'm assuming this is because I installed Windows 7 in RAID mode instead of AHCI mode and the AHCI drivers were therefore never installed. What I would like to know is this:If I enable…

Express Deployment Tool - Add MSE
by Guest Excel.Net - Excellent- 0 replies

We were heading online to download the latest versions of the OPK's so that we had what was available and could refresh images from the ground up. Noticed this new tool and decided to give it a try. It appears that the MSE OPK released 3/30/2011 is not compatible with this Tool. It allows us to browse for the tool location which we select as the root folder of the drive the image was burned to. Then after reading for a while the language selection is shown. We select en-US as needed and click the Finish button. At that point we get an error message "The Locale you have selected is not included on the media you have selected en-US. Then we click OK and get returned t…
