internal ssl cert that works with domain and without
by Guest Bob- 5 replies

I have a web site on an internal iis 6.0 server. Some users use the host header name of the website with the domain attached and some connect without: for example: https:\\internal vs https:\\internal.company.com I have an SSL certificate that has the host header name and those that connect without the domain connect straight through, no errors. If they use the https:\\internal.company.com however they get a certificate error as the name is different then the certifcate. I can change the certificate to include the domain but then the host header name by itself gives the error. is there a way to allow both to work without a certificate error? I tri…

When I click on Updater.exe it tells me that an unidentified program wants access to my computer. Since it's unidentified, I don't know if I want it or not, so I've always denied it. But to have this happen about every 20 minutes if very annoying. How can I find out what the program is and/or to stop the updater from flashing so often? Thanks -- ldl

c:\NAVOPTX.DAT contains these two lines: [NSPlugin] Enabled=0 The file sounds like a Norton antivirus (NAV) file. Since I no longer use NAV, I'd like to remove it. However, web searching doesn't turn up any confirmation that it is a NAV file. Any suggestions?

Can anyone tell in a sentence what this is and do I need it ? More specifically, whilst rummaging around the innards of the firewall module in AVG 8.0 Internet Security suite, After setting my three detected "Adapters and Areas" to use the "Standalone Computer" profile, ....talk about stabbing around in the dark !!!! ...and trying to reign it in ! ....anyhooooo, .... I noticed that drilling down into Tools | Firewall Settings | Standalone Computer | Applications ...and casting my eye down through this list, "RunDLL32" is set by default to "Block" ....is it the case that legitimate software in my machine should continue to be allowed to RunDLL32.ex…

[Crossposted to Windows Update, Vista Security, and Vista Installation newsgroups] Oh, jeez, another one where Norton screwed the pooch! IMHO, all NIS 2008 components should have been disabled prior to installing SP1. At this point, I'd strongly recommend that you avail yourself of your free support options: Unlimited installation and compatibility support for Vista SP1 is available at no charge through 18 Mar-09 • US: http://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.a...74&gprid=500921 • CA: http://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.a...74&gprid=500921 • UK: http://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.a...74&gprid=500921 • AU: http:…

White Desktop
by Guest Richard- 5 replies

After finally following all the advise to get rid of the Vundo trojan and a few others, which I now have done, my boot up continues normally, complete with blue background desktop and proper desktop icons and folders then suddenly the background turns to white, almost as if it would in safe mode. All the icons and links work as per normal but the white background appears during the last part of the boot up. The names of the icons however are blocked off in the original desktop colour of blue. All other functions of the computer work per normal, now. All suggestions appreciated and thanks in advance.

computer internet security, http://computer-internet-security-software.blogspot.com, More and more people are taking advantage of the power of the Internet, as it is the most versatile means of communication nowadays. However, this growing popularity also has a disadvantage -- the continuous bombardment of new online threats. As cyber "criminals" see how people use the Internet for business and other personal transactions, they are enticed to do cyber crimes, such as email scams, identity theft and child solicitation. Because of this, Internet security is a big concern and a lot more people want to have Internet security software. Internet security software…

Recently I was infected with the dpevflbg Toolbar. I have Norton 360, Windows defender, and PC Tools Spyware Doctor. This malware got through and I am having trouble removing a couple of remaining issues. The toolbar itself is gone, however, along with the sluggish performance of my computer, I have a banner on almost every web page saying: "Warning possible spyware infection!
