.Net 1.1 moved to Windows Server 2008 Enterprise does not work for regular users, but works for Admi

Hello, I know this is not the right user group but I am really stuck and need direction I moved my .Net 1.1 desktop application to Windows 2008 Server and it only works for Administrators and not regular users. It has to do with access to Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.ExceptionManagement, maybe, or maybe not, I think When we installed Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.ExceptionManagement we did this for everyone and not the Admins only. with or without installing Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.ExceptionManagement the application only works for Admins The system admin can not handle it at this time so we are trying to get some direction or input from someplace. …

I have a new computer running Vista with a broadband connection. A lot of web pages open very slowly. I found that if I disable Shockwave player pages load fine. Also if I disable the protected mode (UAC) pages load fine. Is there anyway to get pages to load normally without having to disable these items?

by Guest Slothmaster- 1 reply

I've installed a program (winampServer) and used it with no problems a few times then I tried to set up a home network and changed too many settings to remember Now when I try to access this program it tells me "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." I've checked hundreds of help pages online and tried to gain full controll to the folder (which I can access fine just not run the .exe), gained ownership (which I already had) and screamed at my laptop (which frustratingly didnt work either). Out of desperation i reinstalled the program and it worked fine until I restarted …

If the ICS option in MSIE is selected, the machine that is to be the host is the only machine that needs this enabled. NAT is enabled by the host to the clients. What about the host? Does it too have NAT to the Internet or is it exposed to the trolling bots, hacks etc? Is it possible to have a type of [single device router] NAT effect to the host using ICS?

Security causing mail problems - Webroot
by Guest SStone- 1 reply

To those who were kind enough to reply, thank you. In addition to antivirus protection, tech support put Webroot Spysweeper on my computer. It has an email shield and real time scanning. That was why I couldn't reply, forward or send attachments. The fact that it mentioned "protection from attachments" gave me my clue. Add spy sweeper to the list of things that can mess up email. Email scanning has been turned off.

I formerly used Windows Defender, but it was apparently deleted when I installed Windows Live One Care. I still have the MsMpEng.exe process, however, with all it's grabby ways, which Task Manager shows as running when I notice drastic slowdowns on my machine. Is this process an essential part of Live One Care ? Would appreciate any help on this one.

4 firwalls/antivirus products in one month. I've come the the conclusion that there is no security on the internet beyond unplugging your machines permanently. I reformated 3 computors 5 times, reinstalled the windows xp sp2 and updated, and even went so far as to change the mac addresses on the network cards. Within days windows system security settings, and product firewalls would change and it would be downhill from there, not counting the money spent. In conclusion I've had to cancel my personal isp and email account, what was happening was that I would get these trial versions of security software both downloaded and cds, like them, buy them using h…

Suddenly, Vista can't find my fingerprint reader sensor. IBM just replaced the palmrest and reader, as well as the system board--the reader worked after that, then the sensor disappeared a week or so later. Anyone have a clue here where it went or how i can get it back or reinstall it? (I don't want to do a restore point) Thx, Jeff

Hi I have a back-up programme that is being blocked by Widows Defender and I have to unblock it every time I power on. The Windows deneder help tells me "The next time Windows Defender alerts you about the software, on the Action menu in the Alert dialog box, click Always Allow. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation." But I cannot find the action menu in the alert box. The only menu I found are - Remove or disable - Unblock - help. When using software explorer in Widows defender, I can see the software but the button "enable" remains inactive. How can I declare that a s…
