Win7 Enterprise wds multi language deployment
by Guest Roonerspism- 0 replies
Hey there, We're trying to sort out a wds deployment of win 7 enterprise. Currently we've got professional going fine but we need an image for our languages classrooms with multiple languages enabled. So far we've configured the image using the CTRL + SHIFT + F3 audit mode to configure it up as administrator and the copy profile setting is used. We downloaded the language packs for the required languages and added the appropriate keyboards to allow propper input. Upon deploying the image though we have a few problems occur: 1) At windows startup it asks which lanugage to use for install even though we have the UILanguage setting set for en-au, this is no big deal …

Running Avast! 6 and Microsoft Security Essentials Simultaneously - *really* a problem?
by Guest BawkBawkBoom- 0 replies

Hello, I know it's "bad" to run two anti-virus programs simultaneously, but, in all honestly, is it seriously a problem? I've had Avast! 6 and MSE running simultaneously in the past and experienced no problems. Since then I had a little (unresolved) issue with Windows 7 freezing on wake, but I've run every diagnosis possible and there is no way that Avast 6 / MSE caused the issue (pretty sure it's a Bios/Driver issue); I did a Factory Restore of Windows 7 and I've re-installed MSE and am about to re-install Avast! 6. Anyways, in the past I've had Avast! 6 stop Trojans from loading on malicious web-ads while browsing on Chrome that MSE did nothing about, but I've also…

When I try to install to Drive 0 to the fourth partition on that drive, I get the following error - "Windows is unable to install to the selected location. Error: 0x80300024." This happens whether I create the primary partition with Vista, or with the Windows 7 RC install disk. I have tried reducing the size of the partition a bit and still get this error. I was also getting this same error with the Windows 7 Beta. This drive is a 1 terrabyte Western Digital SATA II. I also have 2 other SATA II drives in this system. Continue reading...

Can I do a simple sysprep to a Windows 7 Professional image, without having to use an XML...
by Guest onetech-it- 0 replies

Is there a way to perform a simple sysprep on a Windows 7 Pro image, once I have all the applications preinstalled, that I want on it. I'm fine with having to manually walk through the initial settings (i.e. computer name, user name, etc.) just as long as I know that sysprep reset the SID on the image so I can use it for an install on different desktop PCs. Mandatory vs. Non-Mandatory Profile Precedence
by Guest buckrgjr- 0 replies

Folks, Given that the User Profile directory is set in AD appropriately: If in the destination directory both types of profile files are found, both NTUSER.DAT and NTUSER.MAN, which one is going to be processed? I would hope the .MAN would take precedence, but I don't know and can't tell in the production environment right now. (It's a live world for someone I'm taking control of for a while, and I just found these directories with both files in them.) I know that XP and W7 also use different directories, and these happen to be in the W7 (.v2) directory, but it wouldn't surprise me to find other directories as well. Thanks! Continue reading...

Best practice for cloned images and sysprep
by Guest A M Mikoyan- 0 replies

I have read the The Machine SID Duplication Myth on Mark Russinovich's blog: http://blogs.technet.com/b/markrussinovich/archive/2009/11/03/3291024.aspx I am curious to know of people's experiences of deploying W7 images with and without running sysprep. I know sysprep does more than just reset the machine SID, but in the 'real world' how have people fared? I appreciate Mark's caveats about taking care with duplicate SIDs on DCs and when using WSUS. However, really how necessary is it to sysprep workstations? Thanks for any views/insites Anastas Continue reading...
