Since the NEWS OF THE WORLD launched it's name and shame and campaign in 2000 it has managed to get 14 pieces of legislation introduced towards the introduction of SARAH's LAW. Offenders prevented from living near their victims. Restrictions on offenders contacting their victims. Child victims of sexual abuse to receive appropriate counselling and therapy. Victims to be informed of period of custody the offender will actually serve. MAKING PREVENTION MORE EFFECTIVE Lengthy sentences or even life - Indeterminate sentences to be imposed in appropriate cases. The introduction of Multi Agency Protection Panels (MAPP's) involving police, probation officers and a member of the public to monitor paedophiles. Offenders required to register within 72 hours of release. Penalty for failing to comply with the register increased from 6 months to five years imprisonment. Registration should be in person at designated police stations. Offenders required to have his or her photograph taken for ID purposes. Re-registration of offenders should take place at pre-determined intervals. Offenders should be required to notify foreign travel. Sex offenders should be subject to a risk assessment process at the time of their sentence by the court. Adding up to ten years of community supervision and police surveillance to a prison sentence. EMPOWERING PARENTS TO PROTECT THEIR CHILDREN While information on paedophiles in an area is available to education authorites etc., there is no mandate that requires police to automatically notify the public about offenders living in their area, and worse still, the government recently confessed that a number of child molesters have been allowed to return to work as teachers under supervision. Sarah's Law seeks to rectify these travesties. There's more info on Sarah's Law here: http://www.forsarah.com/html/welcome.html And as a parent, this page will definitely interest you: http://www.magickalshadow.com/daca/sexoffenders.html

It obviously happened in our past. Remember the first line about 'A long time ago...'? Btw, I'm the only one who can save a Tex document.

Looks better than that Michael Bolton thing you had going on m8.

http://www.worldcarfree.net/resources/stats.php Natural? ahem. And this doesn't even take into account the time you spend invading third world countries to steal their oil. There won't be another 'cycle' of oil production when you've burned this lot up. Your children or grandchildren won't be thanking you when the rationing starts.

It's a bit sickening that the newspapers find such incidents to be good copy, but with so much furore raised over the Michael Jackson trial, and several high-profile music industry figures in this country, one of whom was facing a firing squad in Vietnam for rape, it's hardly suprising that the public wants to know the facts. Attacking a child in this way is the most heinous crime I can think of, and I certainly won't shed a tear if someone in the same prison decides to take the law into their own hands. And with the number of incidents of sex offenders being assaulted in jail, I'm sure the prison guards are of the same opinion. The guards are parents too, and I know for a fact that a blind eye is frequently turned when a 'nonce' has an 'accident' in the showers, or anywhere else.

What I don't understand is why you think people who don't work are automatically lazy. There may be plenty of work in your country, but it's not the same everywhere. And what the hell that has to do with the topic we're discussing anyway? WTF does a persons living arrangements or employment status have to do with the validity of their opinions? Why would you come at me so viciously for adopting the stance that I have no sympathy for any child molester, no matter what happens to them? As a mother, I would've thought your loyalties would've been towards children, and not some fucked-up paedo priest. If you disagree with me when I say that the priest got what was coming to him, let's hear your arguments, instead of all the bullshit senseless bickering and insults you keep throwing at people as an excuse for proper debate. Like Feotus said, you know fuck all about the people you're trying to insult, so what's the point of trying to get personal? Take a look at the topic title again and get back to the fuckin' point.

I know that for you it didn't start until 1942. I doubt YOU know fuck all about what happened in the Pacific b4 that.

Yeah, thank God! You can stay in yer own shit hole and practice shooting each other, so that you can shoot us better in Iraq.
-
Never heard of the Malaya Campaign? Who the fuck do you think built the Bridge over the River Kwai? We were fighting the Japs when you were still keeping a low profile in yer trailer parks, ya silly prick.

Okay, let's get this straight. The dole thing was a comment nazzNegg levelled at me when I first joined, and just to annoy him, I played into it, pretending that I am on the dole and that I revell in the fact that I am living off other people's taxes. It was just meant as a wind-up, but every gullible idiot who's never heard of sarcasm or satire has actually bought into this myth. People, I don't know how dumb you think I am, but I would not give out personal info of that nature, especially on a site like this where it would inevitably be used against me. I don't visit the gym 3 times a week either. I work out from home. I also work from home, not that it's any of your fuckin' business. And yeah, I do take illegal drugs. And yeah, I get pissed off by the hypocrisy of people who take legal drugs and are constantly banging on about what I do. As for my 'slang'. There's a glossary on my personal page if anyone cares to look. I come on here and make the effort to understand American slang, so I reserve the right to speak in my own voice on this and any other forum I want to visit. I'm British and fuckin' proud of it. As for church. You can say what you want about any church or religion, I really couldn't give a shit. I don't believe that at all. And I don't recall posting it. It would seem more logical to me that some people would choose to live as a celibate BECAUSE they know they have certain tendencies towards children. All I said was celibacy didn't seem to be working out for the Catholic Church. It certainly isn't helping to alleviate these tendencies, I think the evidence speaks for itself. And as a single mother I have to say I'm well suprised at some of your comments. The choices in this country are very limited for single parent families. Child care is virtually non-existent or unaffordable for people on a low income. For most single mothers in this country, benefits and council housing is their only option for survival. And you should remember that our welfare state is there for everyone, not just the scroungers you seem obsessed with. The same standard of medical care is available free of charge whether you are the CEO of a major company or disabled, or even homeless.

Heh, my neighbour's Irish and he just got a laptop. I'll see what I can do.
