  1. Porting was done by a family friend. He rebuilt the head and cleaned up the ports for free. A little bit of reshaping was done but nothing aggressive. I've pretty much wrote that shop off and wont be back to them so I do not know what stock numbers they see. I did some tuning myself and my butt meter tells me it pulls much harder from mid-range to top-end. I'll pick up an exhaust this winter and get it to another shop and have it dynoed again. I didn't expect 50+HP but I'd like to be high 40s and over 30ft-lbs. But I haven't touched it in over two months since work has been insane lately. Maybe after the new year I'll get the shocks off it and revalved/sprung and order up a new exhaust.
  2. Thanks ghott. I was more irritated by the crazy lean condition in the main and the fix that was needed, led me to believe I had an issue on the exhaust side. Got some help over in the engine tech section about the main air bleed. First time working with an FCR myself so I'm not totally up on all these little tricks and fixes. I think getting that sorted out and running the proper filter will help those numbers some. I need to call that shop anyway. Let them know I'm less than pleased with how everything turned out, maybe get a discount on another dyno run.
  3. So now that everything is back together and right I took it to a shop and had it dynoed. I had the pilot/needle pretty close but really couldn't get the main rich enough with the few jets I had on hand. The dyno guys put about 1.5 hours on the motor getting it dialed in. I'm a little disappointed in the final numbers, but the older Yoshi exhaust probably isn't the best choice. Anyway, Max of 43.29HP and 29.22FT-LBS. [ATTACH]608.vB[/ATTACH]
  4. I'll still have the factory temp sensor hooked up, with the Vapor I don't see any point in having a warning light when that has a gauge and a light. I'll probably just roll up the warning light and harness and tie it up under the hood. For the key I cut the harness and will solder the wires together in the key "on" position. That should leave the rest of the wiring unaltered. That way in the future if the next owner or I want to put it back to stock its just a matter of plugging things back in.
  5. Got my Trail Tech in yesterday. I decided to get rid of the key and temp warning light, don't really need the warning light anymore. So I made up a little mount to hold the Vapor and tether out of scrap aluminum I had in the garage. Think it looks a lot nicer without the beat up oem dash on the bars.   6. I repacked the muffler while I waited on parts to come back. It was a little over due for it. I also thought it looked kinda grungy so I took the pieces of it to the buffing wheel. It polished up nice, except for some pitting near the exhaust port. [ATTACH]528.vB[/ATTACH][ATTACH]529.vB[/ATTACH] The shield was cracked pretty bad so that got junked. I'll need to find a replacement or make one. I got a little bored with nothing to due after that so I polished the grab bars. I thought about pulling the kicker, shift lever, and nerfs off and doing those as well but that would be a bit much. Maybe I'll get those and the wheels powder coated sometime. [ATTACH]530.vB[/ATTACH] Ordered a Trail Tech Vapor, wanted to get a tach and hour meter for awhile. We'll see how it works out, just can't believe how much the billet atv protectors run. Maybe I'll order up a bike one and make something up for it.
  7. I picked up this '05 in 2009 from the original owner. It was very clean and had some engine work done, aside from a '06 swinger it was pretty much stock body/chassis wise. Got a bunch of extra stuff with it, extra set of wheels and tires for TT/flat track, set of paddles, a bunch of sprockets, and all the factory parts. The guy I bought it from was really anal about maintenance and cleaning. He was almost in tears as I tied it down on the open trailer in the rain :icon_lol:. [ATTACH]527.vB[/ATTACH] Mod wise it had a 13.5:1 Wiseco piston, HC1, std. bore FCR, cut air box lid, full Yoshi exhaust, and some port work. The thing really pulled on bottom end but once into the mid-range it was really flat. Last year I noticed the air box was cracking. The original owner didn't put an adapter on the FCR, instead opted to make his own intake tube and modify the air box. He wasn't much of a fabricator and he really hacked the crap out of the box. I ended up replacing it with a K&N setup that I found a really good deal on. I happened to take a peak at the intake port to check out the work done and wanted to puked. It looked like a deranged weasel got in there with a die grinder. So I tore the top end down and had everything freshened up in the process while it was apart. This build will finish up as: SB/SS Hot Cams stg 2 12.8:1 JE Kibblewhite stainless valves and springs 42.5 FCR Port/Polished Head Nothing to special or crazy but should run good on the trails. I didn't think to take any photos while going through the engine, but it is currently all back together. Demon also has my carb done and on the way back so I should have it running on the dyno next week to get some numbers and tuned in perfect.
  8. Hello all, finally getting around to introducing myself. Loved the info I could get off the org but to much drama and such BS. I don't normally post a lot on forums but I use the search function A LOT. Currently on a '05 450R, had two 400EXs and a LTZ400 prior to my current ride.
