  1. There was plenty of "hahnage", there just was barely any scratching. Haha.
  2. Lol. I lost faith in the intelligence of this post when I read "Will Joe be a part of this album?" Because, you know, Joe just was like 'fuck it,' and entirely missed the recording of the album. Because, you know. All DJ's do is scratch. Haha.
  3. the closest thing I saw was that it said "this month"
  4. Thank you! I firmly believe if Linkin Park really cut loose with their stuff, we would have something equating very much what I've been trying to create with my music. An amalgamation of Tool, Coldplay, Aphex Twin, 65daysofstatic, and those other bands that I like, to bring together the same principals of bringing shit together and making it work... but bringing in new colors to paint that picture with. New mediums to throw it into, new lights, etc. Take your standard Linkin Park idea, and brad's got a freakin' sweet guitar riff going on. Mike says, "dude, try this, try to repeat that twice, but take off the last count and just go right back into it" and he does, and it sounds bad ass. It's an odd time signature, and then they build a song around that. Why not!? They aren't musical dumbasses, they know what they're doing. I honestly think, and this is not wishful thinking at all, that the next step in the evolution of their sound is bringing together the best of progressive rock and the best of trip-hop / electronica. Let the new influences come. Am I wrong? Minutes to Midnight was a relatively bland, but necessary step in their evolution. We got some softer stuff going on. We got a little bit more freedom going on. We got some longer songs going on. Rock on. Awesome. Let's kick that 6 minutes up to 8 minutes, throw some extra sounds in there, and for God's sake, man, if you've got an idea, run with it!
  5. They should really get out of their shells and really do some crazy shit. Rob always can bust out some chops and fills and stuff, but when he's in the studio, even on The Little Things Give You Away, which was Rob's original idea (Drum Song) to begin with, he still played very conservatively and to the point. Set the groove. Just an example I noticed because I'm a drummer. I also noticed that Given Up had a total of 3 different guitar grooves and nothing else, etc. etc. etc. If something is different, fit it in and make it work. They pissed me off by deleting the scratching that was already recorded because then they tried to marginalize their sound and put it into a box. It didn't fit into X genre so they removed the turntables. It couldn't have just been "well, I don't think it'll fit in this song," and Joe wouldn't have recorded any to begin with. But he did, because he obviously thought they'd fit. Just making examples. I hope they're a bit more free on this album.
  6. ...the hell? if this is true, it may be a redeeming factor, as long as what we get is well thought out.
  7. Ok, you can, but I'm going to make a thread on it as a stand alone in depth view of the different layers and meanings behind the songs. Each song ties together so well, and has plenty of influences and direct quotes and references to everything from the obvious philosophy and religion, to literature, astrology and mythology, to mathematics and science. And it's an honest to God mindfuck, but if you can slice your way through it, you come out a more complete person.
  8. This album is very musch worth your time. I guarantee it.
  9. Hmmmm.. Try downloading some Reason files or Fruity Loops files. I can't help you with those, because I don't have them myself, but I hear those are the 2 programs that do that and do it well. As for vocal enhancing, I've got a VST Plug-In I use in ACID that just randomly appeared.... probably came equipped with some program of mine. I don't know though. I'll check. (My Roomates are sleeping so I'm trying to be quiet, atm)
  10. Hey, Matt, I know it's not a this year album, but you should review Lateralus by Tool. It's from 2001, I believe.
  11. I can handle it. I'm not sure you can though.... there was 1 link and 3 mentions of the other youtube thread before you merged them, and you still came in and were like "where are all the videos?" I mean, I won't tell you how to do your job or anything, bro, but you gotta have eyes like a hawk.
  12. Oh. Well, anyway, If you look it up, a lot of Nu Metal Bands' vocalists list Maynard James Keenan as their primary inspiration for vocals. Go see. Go on, go on, I don't have all day. That's actually um, very contradicting, because Linkin Park's stuff sounds very very poor compared to their album stuff because they just can't replicate live what they do in the studio. Come on, you have a brain, try to use it a little more than your lips.
  13. Yeah, you're right. Chester shouldn't be subjected to comparison. He's sensitive. I distinctly remember somewhere on this forum, when I compared Rob to drummers like Danny Carey or Mike Portnoy, they said, "Hey, that's not fair, Linkin Park can't be compared to those bands!" Which is very true. Linkin Park can't compare to those bands.
