  1. Kids always think that they have it rougher. They alway race to get older looking forward to each passage of year. This is because they do not know what it truly means to be an adult. As kids, you have your lives ahead of you. You have your dreams. As adults, many of us had to change our dreams or give them up completely because of rolling with life's punches. The older that you get then the less choices you have. If you have a family or a spouse, your decisions are not your own. You have to do what is best for them. I can not just quit my job. I have responsibilities and bills to pay. Plus, I have to think of building a retirement. If I switch jobs too much, I will never be able to retire. I have to pay taxes and watch the news to be aware of the world outside my home and care about who are making the decisions. As for education, it is easier to do school work with the help of the Internet and computers... Nothing sucked harder than when you would hand type a page using a typewriter and realized that there was a huge mistake in the middle of the paper, causing you to retype the whole damn thing (Pre-word processors). No Cut and Paste. Research was days at the library, digging through the index card catalog. I certainly know that most kids get more vacation days off during the year than most adults. Penalties for doing "fun" but wrong things are a lot stiffer. If I shoplifted today and they caught me, I doubt I would just get a slap on the wrist and a warning. If I decked someone, I would be far more likely to end up behind bars. Plus, teachers can not really punish kids. Some of my teachers used the paddle, and parents encourged it rather than prevented it. My grandfather's generation used to say "The Board of Education applied to the seat of knowledge". I hear so many kids have alllowances and big ones too. We always had to earn our money (pulling weeds, mowing lawns, delivering papers, babysitting, etc). Forget technology: cable/satelite tv, video games, cell phones, beepers, home computers, palm pilots. When your parents are at work and someone is threatening you (call 911). That was not always around. Condoms are easier to get at a younger age. You can get birth control without your parent's permission. There were still cliques and gangs when we were young. Slipping people tainted foods at parties or LSD stickers in your Halloween candy bag. Locker checks for bombs. Peer pressure. There were not five year olds who have their parents cowering because they know that they can call the cops and cry abuse. Look at the brats on Supernanny, Nanny 911, Jenny Jones and Jerry Springer. Parents fear for their children as well... Everytime you step outside your door. You worse fears are also theirS for you.
  2. I received my response on the shout board today. No surprise... He chose choice B.
  3. PS: YOU ARE MESSIN' WITH THE WRONG BIOTCH!
  4. I almost forgot to respond to this: As my profile reads: RENO, NEVADA... Since you can not compete intellectually, I would be more than happy to have a physical confrontation with you. Name the place in Reno and I will meet you there but there must be rules: 1) No weapons... ONLY PUNK-ASS COWARDS USE WEAPONS. If you insist on weapons, then as the one being challenged I choose the bo (which is a staff for non-martial artists). 2) I will give you the first shot, because then I can claim self-defense and it will be your last shot. This I promise you. It would not be my first fight. How about you? But, we all know that you will either A: never take me up on this challenge or B: retort in explitives because you are truly a coward. ARE YOU AFRAID OF FACING YOUR ELDER AND A WOMAN TO BOOT? As a warning, I have placed highly in national martial arts tournaments before.
  5. I was merely pointing this out to those others who have not had the joy and fulfillment of reading the sharp and witty responses of our boy on the other threads. I am well aware that most of you know his reputation. Just helpin' the other newbies like myself.
  6. Could it be David Ryan is Fuck you All? From another thread: It seems that one name is not enough to show his idiotic nature.
  7. Darn R.O., you beat me to it.
  8. The Gloves Are off for this one people! A new debate for the old "prolife vs. prochoice people. Here is the debate: A preganant woman gets into a car accident caused by a drunk driver. The pregnancy is terminated in the crash. 1. Should there be consequences for the pregnancy termination beyond the normal D.U.I. (D.W.I.) laws? 2. What if it had been a miracle for the woman to get pregnant in the first place due to health conditions and she is completely devistated by the loss? 3. What if she was on her way to the abortion clinic? 4. For those who believe in an additional penalty, what if it was truly accident and the other driver was not D.U.I. (D.W.I.) Let's hear what you all have to think on this and your reasoning.
  9. Hey Tizz, you will still get called that or worse by someone at some point.
  10. The reason why there are not more third party members is that they have a tendency to split oppositional votes. This is why Republicans love it when a strong liberal non-Democratic candiate runs as it splits the liberal vote and why Democrats like it when a third party conservative runs. It takes votes away from the Republican candidate. I don't like it but watch the politics. It was the Republicans that did not want Perot to run because they knew that it would take votes from them. I also enjoy voting in the primaries and have changed party affiliations in order to get into the primary in which I wanted to vote. I do not vote for a candidates blindly out of which party that I am registered and I believe many others are that way too. I can still be a Liberatarian without splitting the vote in a more detrimental way. I have lately had to vote the lesser of two evils.
  11. The political description that fits you best is... LIBERTARIAN Your PERSONAL issues Score is 90%. Your ECONOMIC issues Score is 60% This does not surpirse me at all.
  12. I am new to forum posting in general. This is the first forum that I have joined. My profile says enough about me. I hope that I can continue to find stimulating debates to read as well as to reply back. I am not looking to offend or be offended.
  13. I agree that as long as no one is getting hurt by the relationship then fine. However, societies always need to draw lines or else there would not be a need for societies. The line I draw is PDAs of all kinds beyond a quick peck on the cheek, hugs, or hand holding. That is me personally. The rest is better kept private. I also do not agree with rape, beastiality or pediophilia (sp?), having been abused myself.
  14. RegisteredandEducated ---Happy Birthday or Tillykke med Fodseldagen!
  15. I do believe that socialization makes a big difference in both the acceptance of gays/ lesbians as well as polygamy (in any form). I just think your average modern American would probably suffer more mentally in relationships like these as I believe that we are raised to be competative in all areas of life including in relationships. I personally know that I think I could handle an additional husband before I could handle an additional wife (jealousy being a problem for me as well). However because these kinds of relationships have historically worked in accepting societies, I can not completely rule out that they could not work again. I just do not think America is ready. All marriages are actually civil unions legally and my brother as well as some of my gay friends feel that it is wrong to deny "civil unions" to a small segment of the population. My faith and conservative nature tends to want to deny it being called "marriage" for them. Therefore in both arguements on the site thus far, I have truly been conflicted myself. This is why I think the historical and anthropological perspectives give me some clarification mentally. In addition, previously people have tried to demonstrate the wrongness of it all by adding in the marriage of such things as pets and inanimate objects, which is absurd since I can not find an example in traditional society where marriage to these things was ever accepted by a society as normal. (Those out there who are aware of these examples please site an example of your legitimate research sources as I did earlier. I am truly interested in data).
