Medicare is one of these brilliant government programs that have grown so hugely out of proportion that we cannot continue to fund it at its current level. This is the way it seems to have worked with every single government spending program ever instituted by the federal government. This is most certainly the way it will turn out with ObamaCare. This is why reports like this should scare you. Rep. Betsy Markey of Fort Collins, Colorado says that come Medicare recipients will have to give up some of their current benefits in order to reform the healthcare system. Here's Betsy's actual quote: "There's going to be some people who are going to have to give up some things, honestly, for all of this to work ... But we have to do this because we're Americans." There you go, folks. We have to give up things that we've worked for; things that we've paid for ... because that's what Americans do. Moving the clock forward now ... say for about 14 years. Let's make that 14 years after the Democrats get their nationalized healthcare. This healthcare program will have grown to a size of epic proportions and Americans will be completely and totally reliant on the government for their healthcare ... just the way the looters want it. But there's one problem: it has become grossly expensive. Taxes have been raised to the point where the achievers, the evil rich, are bailing out. They can't bear the weight, the burden, of this redistributive society any longer. So Congress decides that it needs to cut back on healthcare spending. You are being told that your need for health services will have to be weighed against the needs of the rest of your fellow Americans .. and that you just might have to give up some medical care that someone else needs more. You'll be expected to go along, though, because that's just what we do. Why? Because "we're Americans." THAT is the healthcare future for your grandkids if you don't keep the pressure on your representatives. Look .. sure, there are problems with the delivery of healthcare. Those problems, however, were CAUSED by government .. and more government isn't the solution. The private sector can deliver these services in the most efficient manner possible - but only if government backs off. That solution doesn't work, though, for Democrats. Why? Because this isn't about improving the delivery of healthcare services to the American people. This is about CONTROL. Governments don't exercise more control by backing off.

It's not health "insurance" we're talking about here; it's a health care payment plan. Insurance is something you purchase to partially reimburse you for UNEXPECTED expenses related to home or auto ownership, or your health. Your auto insurance policy will step in with some cash for a crash, but not for an oil change or new tires. Your homeowner's insurance will come up with some money for repairs to fire damage, but not to replace your water heater or that 20-year-old roof. There are certain budgetary requirements that come into play when you own a house or a car, and your insurance company would laugh you out of the county if you went to them to be reimbursed for an oil change or having your carpets cleaned. Why, then, do you think that your health "insurance" should pay for ordinary and expected healthcare expenses? It shouldn't. These are things that you should budget for. But the American people have a different idea. They believe that their health care is someone else's responsibility - either their employer's or the governments. Power-mad politicians are only too glad to pander to that idiotic expectation. You think the government has control over vast amounts of your life now? Wait until the government controls your health care.

Obama's little "dick-switch" midstream is as old as civilization itself: find something or someone to demonize to gain a despotic expansion of power, make them the focus of all evil in the world, and get the general public worked up so much that they jump on the bandwagon. For Hitler, the Jews were the focus of all evil in Germany. Now it's the insurance companies in the United States. What's next? Concentration camps for insurance executives? Maybe Princess Nancy is building ovens somewhere. President Obama and the Democrats truly seem dumbfounded by America's response to their healthcare reform plans. Maybe this has something to do with it. Polling, studies and focus groups have been working for years to come up with precise language that would win over voters on the issue of healthcare. We are talking as far back as 2005, the Herndon Alliance met with the AARP, Service Employees International Union, the American Cancer Society and the liberal health-policy group Families USA in order to figure out how liberals could change the language of the healthcare debate. This is why Barack Obama changed his rhetoric to "health insurance reform" rather than "healthcare reform." This is why he says phrases like " the mandatory purchase of health insurance would 'be affordable, based on a sliding scale.'" This phrasing "precisely mirrored language that had been poll-tested and put before batteries of focus groups by Democratic consultants over the past few years," according to the Wall Street Journal. "The words had been carefully chosen in an effort to take away the rhetorical targets of health-overhaul foes and replace them with terminology that would bring ordinary Americans on board." I guess I am ignorant, too. I attended the last townhall meeting for my district. My district's representative is a Republican, Nathan Deal, a former Democrat, and a bait-and-switch turncoat. He got an earfull. I say America is waking up. I happened. He happened. She happened. The heart, the soul, the spirit of America is waking up to the call of bureaucratic overlordship on either side of the congressional aisle. Truth and information is the Democrats' bane.

Well now the unions have gotten involved. The CtW Investment Group, a part of the Change to Win federation of unions that advocates on behalf of workers' investments in pension funds, is calling for Mackey's resignation. The union says that Mackey is undermining President Obama's healthcare reform. CtW Investment Group's Executive Director Bill Patterson says, "Mr. Mackey attempted to capitalize on the brand reputation of Whole Foods to champion his personal political views, but has instead deeply offended a key segment of Whole Foods consumer base." Oh my God! NO! Tell me it's not true! Someone has been OFFENDED! In the meantime, the United Food and Commercial Workers Union is going to be handing out information to Whole Foods shoppers about healthcare reform. Maybe they will hire some homeless people to handout the flyers ... that's always a good way to promote your cause. There's a Whole Foods down the road a piece from my shop. Might have to stop in and throw a little support their way.

If it were Stapp, he's sure to write some pile-of-sh!t song about his experience. While wearing leather pants and a wifebeater, of course. With his fukken flock of seagulls haircut / surfer haircut.

The Democrats certainly aren't going to let the death of their liberal lion pass without figuring out some way to take advantage. We heard the first rumblings yesterday - today it will be come a roar. The Democrat takeover of all health care must be accomplished if for no other reason than to honor Ted Kennedy. Is there anyone out there who really believes that if ObamaCare were the reality today that Kennedy would have been in any way affected? Do you think that the same government guidelines about palliative care and hospice would have been imposed on Kennedy? Do you think his choice of doctors would have been limited? Would he have been prevented from using his personal fortune to seek out and pay for the best medical care available? Come on, you know what the realty for Kennedy would have been --- and it would have been very much different than any reality you will face when the government gets control. That's the word, folks. CONTROL. Somehow the American people have to put their ideologies aside and understand that this IS NOT about the quality and availability of health care. It is about CONTROLLING health care. The Democrats vowed when they lost the Congress in 1994 that this would never happen to them again. What we're seeing here is the Democrats insuring that lightning doesn't strike twice. They need control over the voters. They need something to wave in the face of voters on Election Day that will frighten them into keeping Democrats in power. For years Democrats have had Social Security. Every time an election would roll around the Democrats would tell their voters that the evil Republicans wanted to take their Social Security away. Older voters were frightened into voting Democrat. Times are a bit different right now. More and more people realize - and have realized for years - that Social Security is a fraud and it probably won't be around for them when they retire. So ... they've made other plans. The old "Republicans will take your Social Security away" ploy isn't working all that well any more. People have figured it out. The Republicans had control of the congress and the White House for quite a few years and Social Security wasn't touched. So ... clearly something new is needed. That's where ObamaCare comes in. The Democrats don't (yet) have control over your retirement, so how about control over your health care? That, my friends, is a life-and-death type of control. Strong stuff. And the Democrats know that once the American people are completely dependent on government for their health care they will be easily led. Health care is the ring the Democrats want to put through your nose. They'll hold the rope. When they yank, you follow -- right to the polls. The old "The Republicans want to take your Social Security away" ploy will be replaced with "The Republicans want to take your health care away." There you go .. guaranteed looter majority for generations to come. Last week the looters were trying (with limited success) to make a big story out of Tom Ridge's assertion that George Bush tried to gain political advantage by raising the terror alert level before 2004 and 2006 elections. Someone explain to me how using the death of Ted Kennedy to stir up the emotions of the American people so that they can nationalize health care is all that different.

And being an insurance company, they must make a profit, and are inherently evil! I guess you are only evil if you are not in Obama's little breast pocket.

I think that it would be totally appropriate to call the government option TeddyCare... in the spirit of Mary Jo Kopechne -- TeddyCare pretty much abondons you and lets you die, even though you could have been saved.

The Democrats and now union officials are up in arms over these organized corporate thugs who are ruining their precious town hall meetings. Take a look at this video of an AARP meeting about healthcare. I love it. The AARP crowd actually thought they were going to going to walk into a room full of people who wanted nothing more than for the government to take complete charge of their healthcare. That's not the way it turned out. The AARP meeting organizer starts out by saying "I think we can all agree that our present health care system is not sustainable .... And I think we can all agree that ... blah blah blah." She starts out the meeting telling the audience what they think. As soon as the AARP lady hears the first dissenting word she starts to loose it. In short order she actually walks out and cancels her own meeting because the audience (with an average age of at least 65) insists on asking questions and voicing their opposing opinions to the Democrat healthcare plan. You can watch this snotty woman unplugging the microphone and taking it with her as she leaves. Watch the video... and then tell me .... are these organized corporate insurance thugs? Do these look like Brooks Brothers protestors? Or is there some slim chance that what you're seeing here are Americans who are genuinely concerned about the future of their country and their healthcare? Then again, Bender, I don't think you know the difference.

At first glance, I thought it was Scott Stapp from Creed. Then I read the article.... talk about crestfallen.

I like John Mackey's plan. In fact, I love the plan. Unfortuntaely, Mackey is now a hatemongerer, a fearmongerer, a bigot, a racist, a rightwing extremist, and Irish. Welcome to the club.

The question isn't whether you have a good master or a bad master. It's to be your own master. That is the dignity of humanity. - Alan Keyes

How much did Ted Kennedy save by going Tango Uniform before the Democrats brought back the death tax full force? Just wondering.
-
On a related note: With the passing of Shriver and Teddy, I wonder if the Dead Kennedys will do a reunion tour???

Might I remind you of the old saying, "You lie enough and it becomes the truth." or however it is supposed to go(?). At any rate, Ted had absolutely no remorse for killing that young girl. He could've taken the high road to retire to private life with at least a little dignity in tact. Where is Gary Condit these days? I have always believed Ted's radical socialist agenda was to avenge his brothers.
