  1. If she just came to this country, I can understand the need to get used to things. BUT if she has lived here for years, she shouldn't be given extra time for anything.
  2. Are nationalism and patriotism really that far off from one another? Some would say no...
  3. I also know true atheists that are offended by religious issues that are forced upon them. Hell, I'm agnostic and I am offended by it.
  4. Thanks for a comment that is pretty much irrelevant. I think you know what kind of god the post is referring to.
  5. A person can be grateful for the sacrifices made without agreeing with the reasons they occured.
  6. I wonder if this covers all sex offenders or just the violent ones.
  7. I know! So why ask them to do it? Isn't it a bit odd?
  8. I am shocked at how many people really have no idea that there are people out there that can actually believe there is no god. I was talking to a group of people today and one woman actually said "Well, everyone believes in SOME kind of god..." She had apparently never even heard of the term atheist or agnostic. When I brought up the terms, apparently I was the only one in the group that knew what agnostic meant. I am starting to get really pissed off at how much things are oriented to those who do have some sort of religious affiliation, Christianity inparticular. Just because a large portion of the world has deluded themselves into believing in one of of the thousands of different types of gods out there does not mean that everyone does. The more I study this stuff the more frustrated I get. Now I understand why some of the atheists I know online are so angry all the time. lol comments?
  9. The Pledge of Alligiance. At first glance, it seems to be a nice way to show your pride for your country. But when you really think about it, isn't it a bit odd to have children standing to attention every morning, facing a flag, repeating words they really have no true consept of? Kinda brings to mind a picture of Nazi Germany... Get em and brainwash them at an early age... I got to thinking about this in class while we were having a discussion about whether or not "under god" should be removed from the pledge. (Personally, I think they might as well remove it, since it wasn't there to begin with, and since there is supposedly a seperation of church and state, wouldn't it be the nice thing to do?) Anyways, this debate is a general one about the Plede of Allegiance. What do you think about it? Is it something that children should be saying in schools?
  10. I'd have to go with someone not on the list...
  11. Hehe... I'm skeered. runs away again
  12. Some people need help. I don't see a problem with them getting it, although I do have a problem with them using foodstamps for unnecessary items.
  13. Not a lonely world for me. I liked you when you were normal.
  14. When I saw this, I thought it was the old story about Anna Nicole Smith's ghostly experience. hehe Maybe the two can meet up and compare stories.
  15. This is the professors personal site, I will try to find the link to the news clip I watched about the actual paper he wrote. http://www.shortell.org/
