Needless to say this is the first unhappy poem that I've written. To be blunt, I haven't been feeling to great these past few months, and this was what came out of it. This is for someone that doesn't sit well with me now, even if she used to. Frozen Fingertips I wore a tie around my neck for you today But I needed to say something more like a storm Something louder than the six AM alarm That you shut off after you've only had a few hours sleep But you pull your hair from those frown lines My eyes are just not brown enough I wore a white button-up shirt for you today But I really wanted to slip under the double sheets In black boxers and drag the heavy covers over me While thousands of people celebrate The birth of someone they don't believe in Or the start of something brand new I wore a grey hat for you today Because the ice on the sidewalk reminded me Of slipping and slipping reminds me of you And you remind me of being cold So I wore a grey hat instead of heavy grip boots To stop my bones from breaking And I wore a white shirt to hide sagging shoulders And a tie to remind me that you were the reason That I could feel perfect But without you I am simply a boy With weak arms and empty eyes And frozen fingertips

Seems to me that religion dominates the way most people view the world, but you shouldn't let it cloud your judgment of others. Closed-mindedness has time and again proven a catalyst for conflict, as was JUST shown here.

Entry #27: December 15 Just a short little entry on my part. Not a lot to talk about... Well, type about in any case. Lost my voice, and I mean completely lost it. Here's me talking: *wheeze wheeze cough hiss wheeze*. Thank god for keyboards and sign language. Got my 5th Gup Green Belt Blue Stripe in TaeKwon-Do on Tuesday. Going for an end-of-the-year Blue Belt. Thinking I'm gonna have to miss TKD practice tonight though, 'cause I can't hardly walk up a flight of stairs without coughing up a lung, goddammit. I blame my brother. He gave it to me. Meh, I'll have to play "Kickin' Ass and Takin' Names" some other time. Finally finished the inventory at Provost, but now I've gotta go to Alliance and take their inventory for them. Apparently the operators at Brooks, Sylvan Lake, etc. all want me to do inventory for them too. When hell freezes over and defrosts again. Once I'm done Alliance, I'm done. Gonna find another job. I'm sick of this one. Grandpa's back in the hospital again. Don't have a clue what the hell is wrong with him this time. Heard that he can't feel his one foot, but that's because the arteries are still blocked to his legs, so that's understandable. Doubt that would be the reason for going back to the hospital... Frick, that's gotta bite. Note to self: don't ever smoke, don't eat fast food like he does, don't quit TaeKwon-Do, or I'll personally kick my own ass. Been feeling a little down lately. It could just be that I'm sick, but then again... The dreams come about once every two days now, on average. After Christmas they'll probably start thinning out again. Also feeling kinda... lonely, I guess. Feels like I'm drifting away from people. I see my friends every now and then, but they've changed, like all of a sudden they've become adults. Stuck in a world filled with people that care more about money and elections and what they need instead of just being content with what they have. Here's to hoping that's not gonna be me in two years. Signed, Tack

All the power to them, I say. It ain't one person's right to tell another who they can love, and just because (example) a man loves another man it doesn't make him any less human than the rest of us. After all, a rose by any other name is still a rose.

Entry #26: November 24 Thank whatever god might be out there for time off. Work has been a real bitch this past month. I’m happy to get away for six days. The foreman decided that I had to do inventory on all running equipment. He said, “All you have to do is write down the serials numbers.” Sounded simple enough, and it was a nice break from insulating. Drive around all day, listen to music. Yeah, sounded great… until the Calgary office reared its frickin’ ugly head. By then, I had finished half of the fields I was supposed to take inventory on, and could finish a field in two days. Count ‘em. Two. When the Calgary office finally got finished explaining how I was supposed to take inventory, I was completing one field every five days, with two damn pages of information to take on every single fuckin’ piece of equipment. Every pumpjack, every engine, every fuel gas scrubber, every tank, every free water knock-out, every separator… Let’s just say that I’m NOT having any fun. Then comes the confusion. The foreman told me that Calgary told him that I was supposed to have the inventory done and in the computer by November 30. No chance I was going to get it done by then. To this day, I have two and a quarter fields finished, and a stack of papers a foot thick. So, I asked the field operators to help out… Well, actually I told them to get off their lazy asses. If they had time to sit around and bullshit for three hours, they had time to help me. Only one said that he would seriously help. Thank you, Neil. You’re not an asshole like the rest. But, here’s where it gets fun. I had already asked the others, attempted to explain it to them (the foreman would have been better off hiring monkeys). Then the foreman comes sauntering in, and says, “November 30 was my due date, not Calgary’s. There is no due date actually, but try to have it done by the end of January.” Don’t get me wrong, he’s a great boss, but he needs to be way more fuckin’ clear and concise. Anyway, now that that’s out of my system. First snowfall was on November 2. Huge windstorm on the eighteenth, which ended up blowing down half a building that was under construction. And the next day, a guy that was in my class died in a car crash. Not meaning to be callous, but I ain’t surprised to hear it. After all, he was drunk, tired, and high. As for news on my gramps, the surgery went good from what I hear, but he was back at the hospital only a few weeks later with what the doctors thought was internal bleeding in his intestines. Guess he couldn't eat solid food or else... not nice stuff that doesn't need to be shared. But anyway, they finally figured out that it was just a stomach infection. A shot took care of that, and now he's back home again, hopefully this time to stay. Went to a snowmobile show and sale a while back. Fuck, those new Polaris Fusions… Man, they must have a lot of jam to make up for how ugly they are. Didn’t find the new jets I needed for my snowmobile. It’s jetted way to low, and that’s making it run like crap. Wasn’t a bad day all in all. On the down side, I've been relapsing fairly often. It seems to happen more and more the closer it gets to the anniversary. Been dealing with it alright though. Doing lots to keep stress levels down, which also prevents that whole over-acidity-stomach-fuckin'-eating-itself thing. Yes, found out that was related to stress. Went to the first TaeKwon-Do tournament of the year last weekend. It was an awesome way to kick off the season. Won a gold in forms, a silver in team sparring, and placed fourth in single sparring. And came home with some battle scars. Few busted toes on my right foot, bruises on my elbows the size of baseballs, kicked in the sweet spot ALL in my last match of sparring. Holy fuck! That guy should have lost at least four points in that match, but the judges weren’t docking any! That pisses me off, me and my instructor, but you just don’t argue with the judges. Despite the pain, I had tons of fun. Twelve of my instructor’s students showed up, which is a damn good turn-out for the first tournament. Half the kids were newbies too. I’m so proud… So, my test for my next belt is coming up pretty soon. Haven’t been practicing much, but I blame that on my shift at work. It was five days on, two days off. It stole my life. I changed it to eight days on, six days off. Plenty of time for training… which is what I should be doing right now… Signed, Tack

Stllmn8j - Well, it's still in the football season, but I don't know if a game is played specifically for Thanksgiving. meterora500 - Heh! Yeah, I'm Canadian. I live in Alberta too! High five, man!
