Eversince I was in elementary school I've listened to rap music from Jay-Z, Eminem, DMX, the list goes on and on. Occasionally I'd listen to r&b and raggae but that's about it. Anytime I heard rock music, I'd shut my radio off. But since the year 2000, all the rap songs are literally the same: sex, money, hoes, cars, and clubbing. I did though continue to listen to it (at least half of them anyway) because I didn't know what else to listen to...until I heard "Numb". I know, I know. A lot of you must be like, "How did you not hear ALL the songs before that one?" I have no idea honestly. But I can say that when BTH came out as a single, LP got me hooked and I purchased "Meteora".
Though it took me a while to get used to Chester's screaming, I loved the album. And I fell even more in love when I heard the reanimation album and collision course. However, I'm still a rap fan by heart. But when I hear Mike's raps and Joe's scratching the background mixing in with Brad's guitar, Phoenix's bass, and Chester's screams, it showed me that I can appreciate rock music without FULLY leaving the hip hop roots. Plus, listening to LP allowed me to tolerate other rock groups.
Anyways, I just felt like saying this. Sorry if it's too long =)
