Six Fort Lewis Soldiers killed in Iraq since July 31

FORT LEWIS, Wash. (AP) - Six Stryker brigade soldiers from Fort Lewis
have been killed in Iraq since July 31st.

The Army says three soldiers were killed Thursday by a roadside bomb
in Baghdad.
The Defense Department identifies them as 29-year-old Staff Sgt.
Fernando Santos, of San Antonio, Texas; 24-year-old Specialist
Cristian Rojas-Gallego of Loganville, Georgia; and 25-year-old
Specialist Eric D. Salinas of Houston.
They were assigned to the Third Stryker brigade that went to Iraq in
June 2006.

On Friday, the Army announced that three other soldiers from the
brigade were killed Tuesday by a roadside bomb in Baghdad. 31 Tuesday
They were identified as 23-year-old Specialist Zachariah Gonzalez of
Indianapolis, Indiana; 23-year-old Private first class Charles
Heinlein Junior of Hemlock, Michigan; and 29-year-old Private first
class Alfred Jairala of Hialeah, Florida.

CHICHESTER, N.H. - The parents of 22-year-old Army Spc. Tyler Holladay
said he was shot in the back during routine patrol in Baghdad July 31.
Holladay underwent surgery and was transported to an Army hospital in
Germany.
The Chichester native was only two months away from ending his 15-
month tour of duty.

Holladay has been stabilized and is expected be transported to Walter
Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. this week.

Four US soldiers killed in Iraq

Baghdad. Another four American soldiers have been killed in attacks
around Iraq's war-torn capital, the US military said on Sunday.
Two of the soldiers died of injuries sustained during combat
operations on Sunday in Baghdad, the military said.
Another soldier was killed and two others were wounded in western
Baghdad on Saturday, while the fourth soldier died of wounds after a
roadside bomb attack alongside a military vehicle near the capital on
the same day.
The latest deaths took US losses in Iraq since the March 2003 invasion
to 3,665, according to an AFP count based on Pentagon figures.

BAGHDAD, Aug 6 (AFP) - Five American soldiers have died in Iraq, four
of whom were killed on Monday in Baquba in the troubled province of
Diyala, the US military announced. "Four US soldiers were killed today
in Baquba. There were also 12 soldiers injured," a military spokesman
told AFP. Another American soldier was killed and two others were

DoD Identifies Air Force Casualty


The Department of Defense announced today the death of an airman who
was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Tech. Sgt. Joey D. Link, 29, of Portland, Tenn., died of natural
causes at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, Aug. 5. He was
assigned to the 39th Airlift Squadron, Dyess Air Force Base, Texas.
