Following the success of 2012 with two races in Rocky Point, Mexico, SADR is proud to announce a three race schedule for 2013. New courses will be added this year. Please see the maps below.

Sand Storm 300 - March 16

Tequila 125 - May 18

Cholla 250 - November 22

SADR is very excited to announce a new start for the Sand Storm 300. The vehicles will stage in front of the motels as in the past, then parade about a mile to downtown Rocky Point in front of the police station where the start will be held. The course will then head out of town towards Las Conchas beach, then out to Caborca road to meet up with the existing race course. Another addition to the course will be a new infield section at the Sandy Beach main pit area. The infield section will be done at the end of the laps so everyone will do it. The race will finish in the normal location behind the motels at the main pit.

SADR and AZOP will be teaming up for the second race of the year the Tequila 125!!! This will bring many more bikes and quads to our series.

Is there a prerun weekend or is there an open time period for prerunning? The last two races down there have been the best race track Ive ever been on, Not too rough but rough enough to make it fun!
Rocky Point LOVES US! you can unload the race car when you get into town and drive it anywhere you want with no problems, Hotel parking lots have 24hr security and I have left all of my tools ect in the the back of the trucks with no problems, Try that in Vegas! If you go to this race and you will be have a blast! It is probably 60% sand and the rest will be hardpack, graded roads, Rock gardens and some pavement.
Single chase truck is no problem. Great beaches and great family fun! Stay at the Sandy Beach condos, Close to Changos the bar where the awards have been held. There are some small dunes and fun whooped out roads right across the street from the hotels and bars, Open to all cars to go play. I have not found a better place to have an offroad weekend. Hope to see a big turnout!

SADR wants everyone to know. . .

. . . that we have a lot of med people at the pits to help out and throughout the track.

(Pictured is our medical team, along with 24 more volunteer firemen not pictured, that we have at all of our Rocky Point races. They will be manning the road crossings and will be at every pit along with our SADR staff we will have radio contact through out the entire race course)

(When your down at the races please be sure to thank the fireman for their support and dedication to off road racing. Any contributions for the fire department would be greatly appreciated ). Thank You. SADR

Last count was 10 cars out of tucson, 6-8 from Phx, 1-4 from L. Havasu, 4-6 from Texas, 4-5 Nevada and 4-6 from Cali. I'm still waiting on the list from down south and if the 2012 Cholla 250 event is any gauge they may exceed the number of car/truck entrys from the states again. During the 2 races in 2012 we gained over 80 memberships and the word is many racers are interested in switching back to the longer style open desert races instead of the short course events just like when Whiplash and Pro Desert produced their races in the area, yet without incurring the huge operating expenses of the long courses events taking place in the US and Mexico.

From a open desert terrain stand point I dont believe there is a better option from a cost stand point! Unlike some other prmotors we want everyone to get a finish, nor do we design the courses to destroy your equipment. We spend a considerable amount of time laying out the course to include a little bit of everything, fast, technical, tight turns, fast sweepers, whoops, washes, pavement, rocks, mountain roads, etc. without providing any particular class an advantage. The course is well marked for those that dont have GPS and want to go at it old school. You dont have to own a TT or Class 1 to be successfull, matter of fact we had a female team in a tandum in their very first off-road race complete the entire course on time with zero mechanical failures, honestly they embarressed most of the guys! Word is they will be down again for the SS 300 for a repeat, gaining seat time while they prepare for the Mint!

Just like the first SS 300 when we had all our permits in place we had to re-permit because the race track owner for "Thunder on the beach" used our initial date, we again had to change our 2013 series race schedule after CODE placed some of their events on the exact days of our initial schedule, so that likely created some schedule issues for those that planned on our initial posted race dates.
I know most that raced the first SS 300 really wanted to race it again, especially with all of the great course up-dates. I'm personnally sorry about the date changes but once again they where beyond our control, I'm also confident that as SADR continues to go forward these scheduling issues will no longer become an issue.

It is not our current policy to post a pre-entry list. We have brought it up during drivers meetings and the majority have stated they just enjoy the no-pressure, hang-out and relax and then get to the actual racing part without any drama. If the racers viewpoint changes I have no problem posting a pre-entry list.

I determine the starting order based on the actual entry order during registration per each class. So just prior to the drivers meeting I just push the scoring systems software button and print out the line-up and hand them out. Any late registration during saturday prior to the start is added to the the bottom of the class.

Anyone with questions or interest can contact me at 520-747-0490 Mon / Tues, I'll be headed down to set-up on the 13th.

SADR wants everyone to know to stop by the Why gas station for a SADR sticker. Then put it on their upper right corner of your windshield. The border will let two tires per vehicle go through for the race. Thx.

First, I want to publicly thank everyone that came out again for the Sand Storm 300 back in March, it is extremely gratifying to see all the enthusiasm from those who just entered there very first race, and then all the hard core desert veterans.
I lost track of how many times we where told after the race "that course Todd put together was the best damn race course we have run in over 20 years" and we can't wait for the Tequiola 125 event. The entire SADR wants everyone to know we appreciate all the support from everyone.

The Tequila race course is 150 miles of haul ass, always-on-the-pedal, up-on-the-wheel racing from the green light to the finsh! Once agin everyone will get to parade into town, start on the pavement and finish on the beach!

If your sick and tired of racing thru rocks the size of small condo's, almost destroying your race car, then spitting Nevada's dust for a week. Maybe your tired of spending a small fortune on prep, entry fees, trackers / transponders, fuel and lodging. We have what you've been missing, plus we will never short you on the "stated" race mileage distance.

Here's an updated map with the pits and roads..

here some more info on the race course guys...

Arizona Offroad said:
The (red) line is the parade route that everyone will use from the staging area to the "start". From the start, heading to "pit 1" the course goes due East (thin blue/green) when everyone reachs "pit 1" you will turn "left" racing toward the "main pit" which is the start of the 1st lap. Both laps run "clockwise" (wider blue) and there are NO race course intersections, even though the maps appears to have them due to the maps resolution race course overlay.
