phreakwars
Horror in a cellar: woman tells of 24 years of imprisonment and rape by her father | World news | The Guardian Authorities in Austria are trying to piece together the details of how a 73-year-old man managed to keep his daughter imprisoned in a windowless cellar for 24 years while he repeatedly raped her and fathered her seven children. Police said the 42-year-old woman, identified only as Elisabeth F, told them her father, Josef, had lured her into the basement of the block where the family lived in Amstetten, north-west Austria, on August 24 1984, and allegedly drugged and handcuffed her before locking her up in the dungeon. A police spokesman said she was "psychologically extremely disturbed", but her version of events was "completely believable". Man, now THAT is some crazy BS. I don't think one could even fathom the psychological long term damage that is probably going to happen to this woman. At least, that's the only thought that stays in my mind. . . Old Salt
This is definitely a sick story. I'm sitting here watching a press conference on CNN. A little hard to follow, though, with the translation. One of the kids, half of a set of twins, had died. The SOB burned the body - they said in an oven in the apartment house, my guess is that Americans would have called it the furnace. Wouldn't there be a smell coming out of the chimney? Three children stayed with the mother and now the police are saying they're not sure if he sexually abused any of them, too. Feckless Wench
The news now says that Josef's wife Rosemarie 'knew nothing' despite being told that her daughter had 'run away'. Odd how the daughter's babies ended up on their doorstep for them to care for (apart from the 3 that remained in the cellar). Can she honestly expect the world to believe that she knew nothing? It has been said that Josef took barrow loads of food into the celllar, surely she saw him and was suspicious? Sadly, the child that caused all of this to come to light by being taken ill and having to be removed to hospital is now dying of multiple organ failure. I hope so much that this bastid doesn't die of old age before paying for such a foul crime against humanity. Quote Dementia is just a state of mind. Old Salt
The wife's sister said that he was convicted of a rape back in 1967 and served 18 months in prison.
Feckless Wench
Even worse in today's newspaper, not only was the daughter forced to construct her own dungeon, she was also kept tied to a post while he raped her and only allowed to be free to use the bathroom. It's a shame that society doesn't allow us to torture evil bastids like him. Quote Dementia is just a state of mind.

Put him in prison with a bunch of lifers who don't have anything else to lose. Tie him to his bed like he did his daughter. Leave his cell door unlocked and walk out the door. Let what happens happen. Let the punishment fit the crime.
Guest sheik-yerbouti
I have no sympathy for truly evil people. But is this guy truly evil ? Is he responsible for his actions ? I have just read, that like Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot etc, he was beaten just about every day by his sicko mother throughout his childhood. Thats for starters. Now try and imagine the psychological, mental and emotional abuse accompanying the beatings - and all this being inflicted on a defenseless child, whose brain was still developing at the time - the human brain ceases growing at 11 years. Imagine what terror, and the stress hormones that that produce might be doing to this childs brain at the time. I think there may be a case that this guy is brain damaged. Feckless Wench
I think there may be a case that this guy is brain damaged. Let him face the people of Amstetten and I have no doubt he'd be brain damaged within minutes! He was already charged with rape in earlier years, I'd say that there is definately something amiss, BUT...he must pay for his actions. Quote Dementia is just a state of mind. And then there are all those who are abused as children who don't grow up to emprison their children and grandchildren in basements or rape and father children with their own daughters. If he suffers from his childhood abuse, I don't think that means he shouldn't be punished.

I've seen first hand the damage abuse causes to entire families and everyone they pull into their web. Never an excuse for crap like this but I think it does make people McCain in the membrane to varying degrees. Evil ..
Guest sheik-yerbouti
He was already charged with rape in earlier years, Once again we see a perp being let out to continue his criminal behaviour. Burglars, rapists, paedophiles, those who get some pleasure attacking strangers for no reason are all serial offenders. I think the judiciary need to think twice about ever releasing these people. The guy was badly abused by his mother - though I'm not making excuses for him. Josef Fritzl: The making of a monster - Europe, News - The Independent I think there is a problem with how the world views 'monsters'... We're too nice these days. I'm not saying let's be barbaric, I'm saying be more strict. What did the heros of old do to monsters in their stories? They killed them. We shouldn't put the people in jail forever. We shouldn't torture them... too much... We should put them to death. As soon as it's determined that they are 'monsters' they should be taken out back and shot in the head. No dragging it out, no appeals, no fights. Ended. That is it. Quote Intelligent people think... how ignorance must be bliss.... idiots have it so easy, it's not fair... to have to think... If you're right, then what difference does it make, it wont matter when we're dead anyway... But if I'm right... Well, hey... Ya better be right... snafu
In cases like this the death penalty would apply. I don't understand people that would rather these people take up space as apposed to terminating them. Quote "You can't stop insane people from doing insane things by passing insane laws. If you really believe that, something is wrong with YOUR brain. This guy is intelligent enough to know that what he was doing is wrong and he knew EXACTLY what he was doing. Why else would he keep them trapped down there and marry such an idiotic woman to put up with his ? He knew that if this came to light he would be in big . He already served time for the rape he committed before, so he knew the consequences. Multitudes of children get beaten, abused, etc. and don't do such atrocious things. Take Dave Pelzer for instance (Child Called It), I'm sure he had it a lot worse and you don't see him raping his kids, fathering children with them, etc. This guy is certainly sick in the head, but he knew what he was doing. Chi
And hell yes he's truly evil and yes, he is responsible for his actions. Who else committed those horrible acts, but him? Not even because he's an old geezer now did he stop being evil. His picture even looks creepy.
