30 posts to make a new thread/topic... thats my idea to stop this ******* spamming in generel talk i mean there are liek 5 threads in general now that are spam...

i mean its only fair to say that you need 30 posts to make a thread/topic right?

what do you think?

can can it be done?

I agree! That would be a good way to get rid of much of that annoying spam! Well, of course the new members won't be able to make an intoductory thread the moment they register in the forums but I think this is not such a big deal is it? I dunno what others think of it but I find it a good idea!! ;)

That is a very good idea, to make it a limit of 30 posts. It would so cut down on the smap around here, like "COLLEGE *** VIDEOS" or **** like that. As for the new members not being able to introduce themselves, I believe we could create a thread that says "New Members, Introduce Yourself here!"(not the whole sub-fourm area) or something like that. Then, if they get the 30 posts, then they could make a new thread saying interesting stuffs about themselves. It would be easier than making new threads, and we could sticky it or something. Dunno, thats my bright idea

the ycmb did that, no new member intro threads. all is in one thread. simply coz then we know wat to sort and destroy, coz the rest is filled with spam from ppl looking for ******

ya i mean random people are just coming on the forum asking help... like "help i got laptop problem" "i need help in web designing" i mean wtf then not even talking about the **** and loans spam... new members can wait fo 30 posts to say hello if it stops spamming...

we can even make it 10 posts cause i bet those spamming ******** wont posts 10 times just to spam a ****** thread :p

one problem,

this would reduce the amount of ppl willing to join. i don't know why, but that is just what seems to happen.

though, it may be slightly easier if thre is a single "introduce yourself" thread that all newbies can post in. however that could fill up fast. so maybe like 3 or 4 different ones, though that could be confusing.

in my opinion, to beat spam, just keep on doing what we are doing and reporting it. ignore whatever it is the spam message says and report it so that it gets taken care of.

that is the best solution that does'nt effect new members at all.

ya peet is agree with you but as u might see the general talk is FULL of spam and i reported every single one.. ok so CLEARLY this "report" think aint working... then make it that you can only make a therad in "new members" if you dont have 30 posts... i dont care but in the last 3 weeks the spamming has been insane!

wrong again.

keep in mind that this forum is not very big, spammers prefer to go for large forum sites over the small ones. there will always be spam, its just how we deal with it that will makea difference.

see, i figure, if we do make 30 post minimum to make a thread, spam bots will spam every single thread already created, which is worse.

Tis a good idea, and make a single thread for introductions, I've been on quite a few forums that don't allow you to post a new thread for an introduction so it's not such a bad idea.

About the whole "spam-until-they-get-30-posts" thing, they probably wouldn't be arsed enough to do that and move onto somewhere else.

So yeah..... doooo itttt.

it's either spam threads or spam in threads. lmake your decision.

personaly, i'd rather have threads on their own so that we can ignoreit, rather then fill up the thrads we are actualy having discussions in. eiter way, spam wont stop.

this is the case, i know. however we should just ignore the **** stuff. its not going to stop no matter what we do. all i can think of is that they change the registration process so that theyhave to type in a radnomly generated code. a lot of forums are doing that!
