“What the **** is this?” Richard McDonald yelled at his friend. “I told you to move the car dude, now I got this hefty ******* fee to pay!”
“I’m sorry dude!” John Stenner replied.
“Another ******* parking ticket! How am I supposed to pay for this?”
“I’m sorry!”
“Dude, sorry isn’t gonna put the money in front of me!”
“I’m sorry dude! What more do you want me to say?”
“I’m practically broke as it is dude! This is yours, you’re paying for it!” Richard yelled at his mate as he handed him a parking ticket.
John looked at the ticket and yelled, “WHAT THE ****! THREE HUNDRED AND TWO FRIEKING BUCKS!”
He looked around to see Richard was gone. He didn’t bother chasing after him, he just scrunched up the ticket and put it in his pocket.
“Three hundred and two bucks!” He said again to himself. “Three *** damned hundred!”
Richard walked to his car. He looked around to see if John was still waiting for him. After taking a good look around, he walked over to his car and got in. He started the car and drove away.
He got to a large car park and parked in the closest parking spot. He locked the car doors and climbed into the back seat. Then he reached onto the floor and found a blanket. He pulled it over himself and tried to get to sleep.
“RICHARD! RICHARD! MAN, YOU GOTTA’ CHECK THIS OUT!” Richard woke up to John banging on the car door and yelling.
“What the…..? What do you want?”
“Just get out of the car and come look at this!”
Richard got out of the car and John led him around the corner. There he saw the weirdest thing he had ever seen.
“He just walked out of that building.” John explained. “Look at his neck.”
From a distance it looked like a man. But with a closer look you could tell it was something different. His skin was a grayish color and there was blood leaking from his neck and soaking into his ripped clothes. The ‘man’ walked around as if he was drunk or sedated, like he didn’t know where he was.
“Do you reckon it’s like one of them things out of the movies?” John asked. “Like…a zombie?”
Richard gave John a stupid look. “Are you a ********? A zombie? I don’t know if you realize this mate but zombies aren’t real. We better call an ambulance.”
“Yeah, good idea.”
John got his mobile phone out and dialed 000. It was engaged.
“****! It’s engaged.” He said.
“John, look!” Richard pointed at the man. “He’s coming towards us!”
The man ran at the two mates yelling and screaming as if it was really angry.
“Dude, he looks mad!” Richard said to his mate.
“Yeah man, maybe we should run away!”
“Don’t be a fool, anyway, he’s not going for us anymore he’s…” Richard stopped and stared as the man ran up to another man and sunk his teeth into his neck.
“What in Gods name is he doing?” John asked his friend even though he knew he wasn’t paying attention to what he was saying.
The man dropped his victim to the ground and turned to Richard.
“Oh **** man! He’s after you!” John said as the man began to run towards Richard. Richard stared for a few seconds, then ran back to his car and jumped in. John followed shortly after.
“Dude, start the car!” John ordered his mate.
“Dude, that guy that got attacked! Look at him!” Richard said staring in the direction that the attack happened.
“What the ****?” John said out louder then he thought.
They stared at the man as he got up. They stared until the first man smashed his hand on the window.
“Oh **** man! Drive!” John called. Richard quickly started the car and started to drive.
“What the **** was that back there dude? You said zombies don’t exist!” John said quickly.
“It wasn’t a zombie!” Richard replied.
“Then what were they?”
“I don’t know, but I’m sure as **** that it wasn’t zombies dude!” Richard looked out the window and examined everything outside. “Dude, where is everyone?” He asked realizing the streets were abandoned.
“Sorry man but this sure does sound like a zombie movie I watched a while ago,” John said.
“There must be another explanation. Like some sort of weird disease or something.” Richard replied.
“A disease doesn’t make you get up and eat people Richard! We have to get to the police station or something and find out what the ****’s going on.”
They drove to the local police station to find that the doors and windows were boarded up.
“Hello?! Somebody in there?!” Richard yelled, banging on the doors.
“Get away! Get the **** away from here!” a voice from inside answered.
“We need to get in!” John shouted. “Please let us in! There’s something going on out here! There are zombies!”
“I said get away! I’m not letting you in!”
“We gotta get out of here, John,” Richard urged. “Get in the car.”
“But____” John looked around to see that there were five or more people that looked like the one they had seen before heading towards them. “Oh ****!”
They sprinted to the car and got in. Richard started the car but not before a one of them jumped on the back and pounded on the back window. Richard reversed out of the car park and pushed the accelerator as far down as it would go. The man fell off the car as they sped along the street.
“We need to find somewhere safe,” suggested John.
“Gee thanks for that, Einstein,” Richard said sarcastically. “I was thinking we should stand outside and wait for the zombies to come turn us into one of them.”
“HA! You just called them zombies,” remarked John smugly.
“Well, that’s what I’m calling them for now, because I don’t know what to call them.”
They drove in silence until John said “I think we should go to the mall. That’s what they do in a lot of movies and there’s no reason why it wouldn’t work.”
“You watch way too much TV,” Richard replied. “But I guess we can try it.”
They drove past the mall to take a look. It was swarming with ‘zombies’. They looked closer and could see some of them had broken the glass doors and gone inside.
“They couldn’t break windows in the movies,” John said.
“Yeah…IN THE MOVIES!” Richard said angrily. “So have you got any more great ideas?”
“Well, in one movie I saw___” John began.
“FOR CHRIST SAKE!” Richard interrupted. “ENOUGH WITH THE DAMNED MOVIES!”
“Well this ones a good idea, we go to the docks, and, and we steal a boat, and we go to an island!”
“Listen you idiot! For one, we don’t have enough of us to get through three of those ******* things! And for seconds, where is the nearest dock genius?”
“Oh yeah, good point.”
“Now, what I say we do is find more people, and hopefully someone who can tell us what is going on. Then we find somewhere safe, and wait it out. What do ya think?”
“I think your crazy, where would we find more survivors? In the movies they always come at random!”
“AGAIN WITH THE ******* MOVIES!” Richard yelled as he sped the car up to get away from some ‘zombies’ that were chasing them. “Why don’t we go to video easy so you can die how you live. IN THE *** DAMNED HORROR MOVIE SECTION”
“Dude stop yelling!”
“**** you!”
“You say **** an awful lot too!”
“Shut the **** up you ******* idiot!”
They had been driving for half an hour when they saw a van drive past them.
“Others?” John asked his friend.
“Well find out soon!” Richard yelled as he sped the car up. He slowly gained on the van until he saw the driver. He looked at him and signaled him to wind his windows down. The driver looked back and nodded. He winded his window down.
“Boy am I glad to see you guys!” the driver said.
“What’s going on mate?” John asked the driver.
“Hang on, we have a outpost set up downtown, follow me there.” The man ordered as he wound up his window.
“Thank ***!” Said Richard as he wound up his window.
“Put on some music to celebrate!” John said as he pulled out a CD he knew Richard didn’t like. He turned the volume up really loud.
“Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream!” the stereo blared. “Make her the cutest that I’ve ever seen!”
“TURN THIS **** OFF!” Richard yelled.
“WHAT?!?” John replied pretending not to hear. Richard pushed the off button and looked at his friend.
“YOU IDIOT YOU’LL ATTRACT THEM!” He yelled.
