Am I me?
Who do you think I am…?
Who do you think addresses you…?
Is it Andrew?
WRONG!
I am ME!
Nothing remains of he who was before,
He is no more.
I am the immortal,
I am the control,
The control you feel,
And it makes you kneel,
BEFORE ME!
ME!
I am,
Everything you can never be,
The thing you wish not to see,
Looking back at you in the mirror.
I see it every time I look in that glass,
All I see is the mask,
Not the man who is left to bask,
In the solitary sight,
That is the symbol of might,
I have become.
I build up,
Right up,
The anger that brews inside,
Like the rising tide,
And threatens to splash over,
The dam of the mask.
The mask contains,
It restrains,
What I have done,
What I have become,
And it will be with me for all time,
It will be ME for all eternity!
Basking in the mask I come to see,
What has become of me.
Within these holes that stand for eyes,
And with no surprise,
I see ME,
The one I despise,
I see ME,
And it terrifies,
Those who stand too close to me,
those who do not see,
the tide of anger underneath.
I can’t say what I am,
Am I me?
Or am I ME?
Until the day that I decide,
Forever will I hide,
Behind the barrier of white metal,
The perfect cage for a beast like ME.
