An Idea to get rid of all these spammers!

I am trying to keep a handle on this spam thing till after my wedding. I know many of you are sick of it coming through as trust me, I am too. I delete over 200 spammers a day at the rate of 1 every 4 minutes. When I sleep Ill wake up to over 100.

 

Its almost $200 bucks for a spam plug in that checks an IP and email address against a big Vbulletin database that rejects it instantly. i guess it really controls the spam.

 

Im severly tapped until after my wedding in a month. But this is getting out of hand now. All resources are going to getting a logo, stickers, and tshirts made.

 

So I was asked to start a donation fund for it. I kind of shuned the idea but I figured it is worth a try. At least to get rid of this spam now and not spend every waking hour deleting it and im sure many get sick of seeing it like I do. Besides, Until stopped it is hard to make the site grow.

 

anything will be excepted. it will all go towards getting rid of spam. i think we have enough members we can knock this out in a day or two.

It is amazing how much spam their is, I never would think that sites get attacked that much. So with this new plug-in are you hoping that the spam will be mostly eliminated with just an occasional spammer getting through here and there?

Im no IT guy, however that is what I am told.

 

I never knew without all this stuff these sites get hit so hard... every 4 minutes we get a spammer. Im not even sure how they rack up so many posts but theywill each rack up 80+ posts in under 5 minutes.

I've really been wanting to become a supporting member. I'm pretty tapped myself until I get my Visa paid off. Also I just moved so money is short. I've never wanted to pay for a forum before but I love this one. You'll see money from me shortly.

You read my mind!! It feels real good to hear that our members feel that way too!!

What you're using now, reCaptcha, is horrible. I also don't suggest wasting $200 on a spam 'plug-in' that will eventually be out of date or require continued upgrades or maintenance.

 

Under Admin CP > Settings look for 'Human Verification Manager' and change it to Question & Answer Verification
