Anyone know of any left over Honda 450Rs or ERs on the east coast preferably in the north east? I have a buddy looking for a new one and doesn't want to pay full price for '12 when a leftover is the same thing... We tried locating one in Maine, New Hampshire and Mass today. Supposedly the Honda rep said there are none out here, a couple in the mid west and a few more out west. That came from the salesman so I wanna make sure he isn't being lazy and blowing us off, lol.

If not, he could try Canada. Might be a few still floating around, but just for a helluva higher price...

I've been on Craigslist like flies on ****, lol. The issue is this last bike he had was falling apart daily. Every time he took it out I had to fix something. I did 2 sets of carrier bearings, 2 sets of swing arm bearings, a set of upper ball joints, cracked frame, broken nerfbars, wiring issues bla bla bla... Rebuilt the motor that just dropped a valve and took everything with it. I've been riding since I was 7, I'm 32 now and I've never seen a machine come apart like his has. It's amazing.. So he said if he gets another bike like that, it's over. I really want to keep him in the sport for 2 reasons, he's good and he's my close friend/riding buddy.

The thought was to get an unmolested bike and go fresh with intake, cam and pipe. He has a set of shocks front and rear he can swap over so all we need is arms and an axle.

We've been standing here today talking about it. I know some of these left overs have left the dealerships for under 4grand... Has anyone shipped a quad? I used to ship motorcycles at a shop I worked at, anything from CBR and Gixxers to full dress harleys and *** cruisers. I would build skids and pallet them up then load them in a back of a FedEx freight truck with a forklift and away they went... If we could get a quad shipped for about $500 (thats about what a dresser would cost) that could be an option to get one from out west.

Shipping has gone through the ROOF the last few years. Even with Uship, your still looking at $700 + across country on the cheap side.

I do come across deals from time to time if you are not in a dire emergency right away. I found a 2004 for Nuckinfuts friend and it looked like it seen dirt once or twice. SUPER CLEAN and got it for 2300 I think. That would be a deal you could ship.

I pickedup my white 07 for $2700 and same thing.... It had less then 5 hours on it.

It might be my crappy *** dealer, but last year when they introduced the 2012 model, they jacked up the prices on all the remaining 09 models they had in stock.

I wouldn't say "dire" but I think this is going to happen with inthe next week or two... As of now he's quadless and we're coming into the season.

I was shipping back in '05 so I guess I'm not surprised about the prices going way up. I saw the pics you posted on the org of that 07, that's a sweet deal. Everything here is "barely ridden" but there's no paint left on the frame, lol..

Airmobile, never trust a dealer lol. I've worked at one of those too and they're as shady as they come.

Oh, I look at plenty of barely ridden bikes that the frame is rubbed raw, the clutch cover is scuffed from boots, control arms look like they road the baja 1000 with chipping, I smile and low ball them and walk away when they are to proud.....

or the TOP NOTCH MAINTENANCE ones that you pop the seat and find a filter that has never been cleaned.

tire condition, tires on forwards or backwards, stock or aftermarket rears, chain sag, frame rub, grips, even super simple stuff like gas vent hose all tells me the condition of a bike. That is exactly how i scavenge CL.

That and what type of aftermarket parts they choose. ****** bars say a lot to me. If the budget doesn't afford a decent "cheap" part then they aren't "wasting" money on quality maintenance... Lol
