Whatever. I'm looking forward to seeing what it will be. Why does a big stink have to be raised for something to be done about this in the first place?

Hard telling. American's don't ever want to do anything until it's a crisis or emergency.

And when are they going to do something about the same practice being done on a larger scale in the teaching industry, right here in the US?

I hear way more about teachers being reported and going to jail than priests. Priests being reported and especially something being done about it,is new, although it's been going on for so long.

Not that it makes it okay (these are still kids being taken advantage of), but at least these teacher-student scenarios sound to be more consentual.

My point is that teachers are routinely fired and allow to go to another district/town/state to teach again after allegations/suspicions of abuse.

The law of averages and numbers would have way more teachers reported going to jail than priests.

There are approximately 41,000 Catholic priests in the US, 6.2 million teachers. That's about 151 times as many teachers as priests.

No way! Teaching licenses are revoked from teachers after being convicted and they aren't supposed to get any jobs involving children after that. And teachers aren't fired while cases are pending. They aren't just let go to go somewhere else *****-nealy. The consequences for doing something like that are too great to even risk for schools.

On the other hand, the Vatican not only protects their fellow pedos, but they arrange to transfer and hide them themselves. Dispicable!

It happens all the time. I'm talking about cases where law enforcement isn't notified, schools doing CYA. Teachers are fired and just move on to another school district.

This is similar to how nurses are often caught stealing meds and such and just fired and keep their licenses to go to another place to work because the place they were working doesn't want to report it in fear of fines and lawsuits.
