Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have." We can easily make clear distinctions between the desires of the body and the will of the spirit and it's this very thing that needs to be addressed. Job 4:15 Then a spirit passed before my face, the hair on my body stood up. 16 It stood still, but I could not discern its appearance. A form was before my eyes - silence, then a voice I heard, We've all had those moments when the hairs on our body stood up and we felt spiritual movement but possibly a majority of us didn't recognize this as such. It's not necessarily our spirit that is moving but in those moments we can learn to recognize the voice. Eze 3:12 And the Spirit lifted me up, and behind me I heard the sound of a great rumbling voice, "Blessed be the esteem of ???? from His place," Now not all voices are those we should listen too and in fact we need to discern the messages being given to us. We must use our own judgment because just as the Elohim speaks many times to his people, so do those of evil spirits that would lead us away from the truth. There is such an example in scripture: Eph 6:12 Because we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against authorities, against the world-rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual matters of wickedness in the heavenlies. This is absolutely not the truth! We do wrestle with flesh and blood and everyday, it's usually our own. You don't believe me, ask any pack a day cigarette smoker if he wrestles with his own flesh. The spirit is telling him to quick and he'll say, "I wish I could, or I want to quit but I can't.." The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Everyday we wrestle against flesh and blood and it's for this very reason that the Messiah on many occasions spoke about fasting. Mat 17:20 And ????? said to them, "Because of your unbelief, for truly, I say to you, if you have belief as a mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it shall move. And no matter shall be impossible for you. 21 "But this kind does not go out except through prayer and fasting." The practice of fasting, is the practice of denial of the flesh and we strengthen the spirit by this very action. In the realm of spiritual warfare there is no greater weapon then giving up our fleshly desires and seeking the desire of our Father by prayer. Rev 9:21 And they did not repent of their murders, nor of their drug sorceries, nor of their whoring, nor of their thefts. The issue of drug sorceries enters into the realm of spiritual warfare and cigarettes, marijuana, alcohol and prescription drugs can all fit into this category. When we consider these elements of body verses the spirit we see all to clearly the aspects of spiritual warfare wrestling against the desires of the body. Nobody wants to be a crack addict or an alcoholic yet the modern world is filled with people who suffer from these demons. Maybe you've heard the term, "a monkey on my back" and it's spiritual warfare at the primal level. So the war we have is between flesh and blood, the body and spirit. If we truly subscribe to the idea that the bible is the temple, what are we doing polluting it with garbage? As children of our Father, we are to set ourselves apart from the practices that destroy and we all know cigarettes to be one of the worst. Now does that mean that if Joe Camel is attending the church, we cast him out? Hardly but we should do everything in our power to help him, encourage him, pray for him and be his quit partner. Mat 4:23 And יהושע went about all Galil, teaching in their congregations, and proclaiming the Good News of the reign, and healing every disease and every bodily weakness among the people. Less money for even charitable things. No energy to do everyday activities. Even climbing stairs becomes a labor of sweat and panting because your unable to draw enough air. Dependancy. I’ve personally was in a situation where I chose to buy a pack of cigarettes over food and that speaks to just how strong those bodily cravings are. So when the first thing you do is wake up to have a cigarette, ask yourself, who is the master? Mat 6:24 “No one is able to serve two masters, for either he shall hate the one and love the other, or else he shall cleave to the one and despise the other. You are not able to serve Elohim and mammon. Filth, dirty ashtrays, constant smelling.. If you’re a smoker, you don’t smell it anymore but the moment anybody else does come around you or your home, it’s like a giant catbox. Listen to the spirit in your soul… it’s telling us all to quit! It’s telling us to prepare for war and your not going to be in it reaching for souls if your more concerned with getting your next pack. Luk 16:11 “If, therefore, you have not been trustworthy in the unrighteous mammon, who shall entrust to you the true? One of the first tactics of the unbelievers is to find fault in you.
