Mental testing ordered for man accused of Chesapeake sex assault
January 17, 2008

A judge has ordered a new mental evaluation for Clayton Vines, a suspect in
the abduction and sexual assault of an elderly Crestwood woman.

Circuit Judge Randy Smith ordered Vines undergo the testing to determine his
competency to stand trial and the degree of his mental retardation.

Vines, 43, of Chesapeake, faces multiple counts of forcible sodomy,
abduction, abduction with the intent to defile and commonlaw burglary. He is
accused of breaking into the home of an 82-year-old woman on May 24 and
repeatedly sodomizing her.

The crime occurred in the 200 block of Grant St., near Bainbridge and Great
Bridge boulevards. The suspect entered the woman's home through a broken
window.

The judge denied an earlier request for a compentency assessment, but
because of a mixup Vines was evaluated on his ability to stand trial and
found not to be competent. The assessment suggests Vines is not mentally fit
to stand trial.

Today, Smith ordered a new, more comprehensive evaluation of Vines' mental
state.

The creep should go to jail for a hundred years.

Feel better?
