His guilty plea is provisional. If he stays out of trouble for the next

year or so, all charges will be dropped.

Al Gore's Son Pleads Guilty To Drug Charges

(AP) LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. Al Gore's son pleaded guilty Monday to

possessing marijuana and other drugs, but a judge said the plea could be

withdrawn and the charges dropped if he successfully completes a drug

diversion program.

Authorities have said they found drugs in Al Gore III's car after the

24-year-old was pulled over on July 4 for going 100 mph in his Toyota Prius.

He pleaded guilty to two felony counts of drug possession, two

misdemeanor counts of drug possession without a prescription, and one

misdemeanor count of marijuana possession, the district attorney's

office said.

Jaime Coulter, senior deputy district attorney, said Gore's sentencing

will be continued until Feb. 7. If he has complied with all the

conditions of the diversion program, the sentencing will be continued

again for another year, with charges possibly being dropped in 2009.

"At that point, he will be able to withdraw his guilty plea as if he

never entered it," Coulter said.

Gore was expected to enter the drug diversion program immediately, said

Farrah Emami, a spokeswoman for the district attorney.

Deputies who pulled over Gore said they discovered less than an ounce of

marijuana and a variety of medications, including Xanax, Valium, Vicodin

and Adderall. Authorities said he did not have a prescription for any of

those medications. Gore also was charged with a traffic infraction for

speeding.

The son of the former vice president and Democratic presidential nominee

was previously arrested for marijuana possession in Maryland in 2003,

when he was a student at Harvard University. Gore completed substance

abuse counseling to settle those charges.

So how was that "buying his way out"? How is it different that what

most anyone else would get?

No different. The drug diversion program was voted in overwhelmingly

by California voters who were sick and tired of non-violent offenders

such as stoners being locked up over posession of a couple of ounces

of weed or small amounts of other drugs.

He was arrested for cocaine posession in 1972, but daddy had it swept

under the rug. Don't you ever grow tired of your lips being a

puckered mirror image of Dumbya's asshole?

I presume you mean the part where the Bush Crime Family's spin machine

attempts to discredit the messenger for telling the truth about

No, I mean the part where it doesn't support any allegations that he was

arrested for cocaine possession, even saying the Democratic District

Attorney said there was no diversion program that year and no Republican

judges. The sole source of your false allegation is a book written by a

lying felon who claimed there was a diversion program and a Republican

judge.

The only machine you would know anything about is the jerkoff pump

that you use on your pathetic pud.

No that's 1 TICKET for DUI, he was never arrested and just had to pay the

fine.

Neither (2) arrests for possession involved a DUI/DWI

Only the last possession arrest took place in California, where as a first

offense against California State Laws, Al Gore III is receiving the normal

sentence under California Law.

That is the Drug Diversion Program, design to keep minor drug offenders out

of jail IF they complete drug rehab, stay drug free, and don't get into

further trouble with the law. They are not sentenced for their crime,

sentence is just postponed. If they manage to reform and stay drug free,

eventually the Judge will just drop the charges rather then carry out

sentencing. If they still use drugs, the judge will immediately sentence

them for the earlier charge which normally means jail time.

Because if it had been some Republican's kid all the leftards would be

chanting Ted "I got away with murder" Kennedy's mantra "Do we operate

under a system of equal justice under law? Or is there one system for

the average citizen and another for the high and mighty?"

Same deal Limbo got.

First offenders get a shot to walk free of charges and a record.

The only sensible program in the stupid "Drug War"

The Iraq war is even more stupid

Except Gore wasn't a first offender.

Try again.
