Background-ing

i noticed that people like sal and darkcollision always make sigs with great backgrounds, i was wondering how do i make cool backgrounds with photoshop.

Go to the graduint tool or how ever you spell it and just mess around with some designs. I usually do difference. It makes a cool effect. Then you can go up to Filter and go to one of those options and make the backround look like fog, glass or anything.
