The eerie part about that, is some of the things they were showing actually are true.
When I was managing the pizza place and someone would call, we'd get the prompts on the POS screen that listed all kinds of info on the customer, like where they live, place of work, past orders, alternate numbers, all kinds of stuff. And more info could be entered as needed, like their topping preferences, payment options, if they preferred cheese packets or pepper seeds, etc..
It wouldn't be too uncommon for one of the customers to freak out every now and then and go "HOW DO YOU KNOW ALL THIS STUFF, you must have a good memory".
It actually came in handy if you knew how to run the system correctly (me and the owner were the only ones who ever did), because we'd know how to sell extra product at discount prices that the customer could agree with.
