BIOS keeps resetting to non bootable USB disks

I have a PC with Windows 7 pro 64 bit and am having major problems that keep getting worse. It blue screens a lot and lately I've had to go in and reset the BIOS to tell it which drive to boot from. I boot from the installed C: drive but it will be set to a USB external drive or even a thumb drive. I don't know why this is happening and I can't get it to stop. Thanks
