I have been mentioning Bloc Party a bunch on many of my posts for awhile and nobody said anything. I guess they are getting a little airplay (esp college radio) and that would be the only reason why somebody here would say anything. Either that or FadedBlue has checked out my posts and mp3s and wants to post something without thanking me. Either way.....pathetic.

This band is awesome. Put your boring Green Day down and all your other crappy emo and MTV punk down. Bloc Party blows them away. The post punk scene is definitely being revitalized. Me so happy.

Banquet is a good song, but by far one of their least interesting songs. It's just a dance song to get some public exposure. Nothing radical like their other tunes.

I love Bloc Party, not got their new album yet but The Prayer is awesome.

Fave songs; Banquet, Helicopter.

Kele's accent is fit.

Aside from a few decent tracks, the new Bloc Party is pretty weak. Their debut "Silent Alarm" and their EPs were much better. On "Weekend In The City" they've seemed to have dumb their material down and infused a little U2/Coldplay-esque esthetic into their sound. Which completely sucks. But anyhow, none of you guys wanted to talk about Bloc Party back when their "promising" material came out. But now since MTV and whatever media outlent has put them on rotation, you guys want to chit chat about 'em all of a sudden. Goes to show most here are sheep and won't follow unless MTV, VH1, myspace, or the radio say so.

Anyhow, I assume Bloc Party has sacrificed a good chunk of quality musicianmanship and songcraft in lieu of major promotion. They could've chosen the route of making a truly great and inventive album, but chosen darkness of the majors instead. The album is really boring in some parts, especially evident with the singles released thus far. I Still Remember is ****.

And man, Kele shouldn't have stretched his vocal range like he does on certain parts of the album. It sounds bad.

well...they don't play them on MTV here at all...so...you almost don't get any information about them here...

and it also seems to me that you like certain bands and when they become really famous and get some promotion you don't like them anymore...what's going on with you?

Not true. That particular accusation wouldn't work because there are alot of bands that have crossed onto the majors and haven't compromised their sound for tv/radio play. It was either their way with their vision intact or the mainstream way. Bloc Party has decided to become a band that listens instead of does and so their talents take the backdoor now. I forgot to point out how bad the lyrics are at times on Weekend In The City.

I really like both of their CDs...and I even like the remix CD....I don't think they have become less creative...I even like the lyrics from the new album more....alright...I confess...I'm into mainstream acts...but I don't see that there's anything wrong with that...I don't care...as long as I like it, everything's cool

like jeezy said... in germany they weren't or aren't very famous or know... just like fall out boy they came out like huge over here but they're know in the us for some years... and i think thats kinda sad bc we just get to listen to boring german bands what i hate... ok not just german bands but u know what i mean
