Mom, Son Deaths in Wash. Deemed Murder
Saturday, January 26, 2008

CLARKSTON, Wash. - Deputies were investigating the deaths of a mother and
her 18-month-old son as homicides, the sheriff said Friday.

Officers found the bodies of Elizabeth Duman, 31, and her toddler, Abraham,
in their southeastern Washington home. Two other children were shot;
3-month-old Ruby Duman was in critical condition Friday and 3-year-old
Johannes Duman was in serious condition with a leg wound, hospital officials
said.

Asotin County Sheriff's Lt. Dan Hally said officers went to the home
Thursday after receiving a call from William Duman, 33, who found the bodies
of his wife and child. He was not there at the time of the shootings, Hally
said.

"This incident is still being investigated as a homicide. Firearms were
involved," said Hally, who gave few other details and declined to answer
questions at a news conference.

"At this time we don't see any danger to the community as a result of this
incident," Hally said.

Autopsies were scheduled for Elizabeth and Abraham Duman to determine the
cause of death.

Neighbors said the family had eight children. William Duman is with the
surviving children, Hally said. Officers have said at least one child was
found uninjured in the home.
